Plan Escalon – “to escalate” out of poverty
• 38% of children @ Escalon are orphans (double or single orphans)
• Children who go on to college after public school: 0.5-1.5% (national avg.)– Escalon students: 39% go on to college
• Unemployment rate (nat’l avg) – 70%– Escalon graduates: 70% ARE employed!
“Escalon” kids breaking cycle of poverty…
BEFORE:• Very out-dated (systems 11-14 yrs old)•Fried computers due to inconsistent electricity
CURRENT KITCHEN:• Only have dining spots for 150 of 550 kids• No place to eat when it rains & inclement weather (not sufficient dining space)• Kitchen too small•Was built for 150 kids “back in the day”
