On Friday, Oct. 18, Betty Who, an Australian singer, performed at The Granada in Lawrence, Kansas. The event was open for all ages. It drew a mixture of new fans that were just checking her out for the first time, but there was also a number of her longtime fans called the “Who Crew.” Austin Crockett and Alexis Atcheson, longtime fans of Who, said they found out about her a few years ago on Twitter. The supporting bands for the event were Great Good Fine Ok and Joywave. Once Who took the stage, she performed for about an hour. Her set consisted of material from her extended plays and debut album. After Who finished, she left fans excited and eager for the next time she tours. Alexis Mayer, a student from the University of Nebraska, said the main reason she loves Who is because of how she looks. “She’s not stick thin like other pop stars,” she said. Fans also went to Twitter to voice their opinions about the show. Jacob Mogle, a student from Baker University, tweeted that he felt like he had been “friends for years” with Who. If you were unable to make it to the event, you can buy Who’s new CD on iTunes.
