Children are often given formal swimming lessons which serve to develop swimming technique and confidence. Children generally do not swim independently until 4 years of age. Swimming lessons are so common that it has even been suggested it be included in the public school curriculum.

Modesty led to the development of the swimsuit (and in victorian times, the bathing machine).

Mens swimsuit tend to be trunks, surf or board shorts, competition briefs , or cut offs. Other types of swim wear includes Speedos. Almost always the upper part of the body is left uncovered.

WOMEN`S SWIMSUITSAre generally either one piece swim

suit of traditional or competitive style (such as the racerback) or bikinis. Another option would be a Tankini, more conservative than a bikini but still not a one piece.

Body skins are special whole body swimsuits for competitive swimming. Design to reduce skin drag.

NUDE OR TOPLESS SWIMMING FOR WOMEN IS DONE:
