What is Follicular Unit Transplantation?

Before starting the surgery, the hair in the donor area is trimmed by the surgical team.

Stage - 3Patient will be Anesthetized

After trimming the donor area, the patient will be given a local anesthesia in the particular donor area. In due course, to make you feel relaxed, you are also given some options like listening to music, watching movies or chatting in your mobile device etc so that you don’t feel any kind of sensation.

Stage – 4Donor Tissue is Removed

The donor hair which is genetically resistant is surgically removed.

Stage – 5Donor Area is Stitched

After the donor tissues are removed, the donor area is effectively sutured by the surgeon. When the hair is combed over the area, the stitches are not visible, and the sutures are removed after 10 days following the surgery.

Stage – 6Donor Tissue is Shortened down into Follicular Unit Graft

Surgical team uses a stereo microscope to see the donor tissue to dissect and finally make follicular unit grafts.

Stage – 7 Recipient Area is Prepared

The balding area is now ready for the hair transplant surgery. In this step, no trimming is required.

Small Incisions are made in the Recipient Area

Petite incisions are made in the balding region in uneven patterns. The follicular unit grafts will be transplanted carefully in these small incisions.

The grafts are carefully placed into the balding region.

The tiniest 2 hair grafts will be placed in the frontal hairline and the remaining 3 and 4 grafts will be transplanted behind them.

The Final Step

The new incisions will heal quickly. The surgeon will give you the post-operative instructions which must be followed stringently for a speedy recovery. The redness as well as scabbing will subside within a week.
