What is Counselling?
Counselling is a process in which a client and a counsellor set aside time to explore difficulties which includes the stressful and emotional feelings of the client.
Counselling is not getting imotionally involved with the client or giving advice to the client.
Counselling is an act which helps the client to see things more clearly from a different point of view.
TYPES OF COUNSELLING
Directive Counselling Directive counselling is counselor-centered. In this process the total responsibility is given to the counselor.
Non-Directive Counselling Non-Directive counselling is client-centered. In this process the total responsibility is given to the client.
Eclectic Counselling Eclectic counselling is the combination of directive counselling and non-directive counselling.
WHY COUNSELLING?Counselling is a kind of treatment for depression and anxiety.
Some reasons for counselling:
• Stress• Anxiety• Mood Problem• Social Functioning• Academic Engagement• Coping with grief or loss• Dealing with racism• Lonliness
