Born 1964 in Brakpan to a banker and a

clerk.

Moved to Rhodesia at age 3.

Parents got divorced when I was 6.

Went to boarding school in STD 1.

Went to day school from STD 7.

Left Zimbabwe whilst in STD 9.

Did Matric in 1981 age 16.

I hated boarding school with a passion!

I hated my father for what he had “done”.

I channeled my anger into sport.

I wanted to be accepted by my friends.

I rebelled against everything in high

school.

I used my parents to get what I wanted.

I became determined to finish school as

quickly as possible.

A roller coaster ride of trials and accomplishments!

Age 22 I nursed and buried my father.Age 26 I was made to decide to switch off the

life support for my stepfather after an accident!

Age 36 went through my first divorce.Age 39 I buried my youngest son at age 6.42 got divorced a second time.2007 suffered a near fatal motorbike accident.2008 rolled a car and lost the use of my arm.

Travelled on holidays armed to the teeth!

Almost taken out by three bombs.

Been burgled twice, once almost lost my

youngest daughter to armed intruders!

Lost dear friends through terrorist attacks

on the aircraft in Rhodesia.

My children rejected me after the divorce.

Have not seen my daughter in 2 years.

Four things that changed my life the most!

Diagnosed with cancer and sugar diabetes.

Built up a business to leave the family with!Nursed him whilst my stepmother was out

every day for two weeks prior to his passing away!

Carried him out of the house to the undertakers!

Made all the arrangements for the funeral

Born 17th February 1998.

Pulmonary stynosis with a VSD.

First open heart surgery at 36 hour old.

Prognosis not favorable but out of hospital in

2 and a half weeks!

Second open heart operation at 6 months.

Walked into doctors surgery at 11 months.

Passed away in 2004 not related to illness!

A week before suffered a major depression!

Called in the priest to help me!Did not care if I lived or died!Was pushed off the road by a car whilst on

the bike!Car went over my legs and lost my pulse

for three minutes on the road side!No bones broken and back at work 4

weeks!

1st April 2008 18h25 was nudged off the road Rolled a car three times and waited an hour

for the ambulance to get to me!Arrived at hospital an hour and a half later!Woke up from a coma 29 days 17 hours later!Lost the use of my right arm and had muscles

removed from my upper body.One bone broken and back on my own in 5

months.

Doctors gave me 10% chance of survival I used the 90% to prove

them wrong!

People around you make the difference!

The will to fight for your life when the odds

are against you!

Never giving up when the chips are down!

Even when you are not awake your mind

has the will to fight your battles!

Acceptance of the change brought about

healing!

THE CHALLENGE THE SOLUTION

The pain of your injuries

The cosmetic pain of the

change.

The loss of independence.

The anxiety of impairment!

Wanting to live a full life!

The fear of rejection!

Accept that it is normal!

Learn to accept the better

you, and you are unique!

Fight to regain it!

Realize you as person can

be the same if you want to

be!

Welcome the challenge of

being able to do your best in

your situation and live it!
