Diabetes MellitusCarlee Olsen Contract 18
What Is It? How Do You Get It?When your pancreas doesn’t
produce enough insulin, sugar levels in your blood will rise to dangerous levels
How Does It Harm You?High levels of blood sugar can
harm your circulatory system and your urinary system. It harms your circulatory because the sugar stays in your blood instead of going through the receptors into your cells to make energy. It also harms your kidneys because your kidneys are under pressure trying to balance out all the sugar.
TreatmentDiabetes Mellitus is treated by
injecting synthetic insulin into your body to replace the insulin not being produced by the pancreas.
Treatment EffectsBy injecting synthetic insulin into
your body, you may have a low blood sugar level which will cause you to have low sugar in your cells so you won’t have as much energy.
