Basic information

●Scoring tool based on 20 questions●Tracks performance across 4 dimensions of

integrated landscape management (ILM): ●Conservation●Production●Livelihoods●Institutions

Basic information

●Each dimension has a goal, followed by 5 criteria for meeting that goal.

Livelihood Goal: The landscape sustains or enhances the livelihoods and well-being of all social groups that reside there.

Criteria:L1: Are households and communities able to meet their basic needs while sustaining natural resources?    L2: Is the value of household and community income and assets increasing?   L3: Do households and communities have sustainable and equitable access to critical natural resource stocks and flows? L4: Are people in the landscape able to adapt to changes in human and non-human (plant & animal) population dynamics?  L5: Are households and communities resilient to external shocks such as flooding, draught, changes in commodity prices, disease epidemics and others?

Process

Preparation●Choose and invite participants who represent a

variety of stakeholder groups

Conduct the survey●Define “landscape” and explain ILM●Distribute a scorecard to each person●Review scorecard and then score each of the criteria

Evaluate●Gather scorecards and enter scores into the data

capture sheet●Present results (average scores and spidergram) to

participants

Sample Results

How can the scorecard be used?

●To provide a baseline of landscape performance

●To track landscape performance over time is repeated at regular intervals

●To improve stakeholder understanding of the landscape

●To stimulate discussion on key issues in the landscape
