2. Kyron Fortune as Kyron and NoelKyron Fortune as Kyron and NoelClarke as SamClarke as Sam 3. Stereotypical view of both ofStereotypical view of both ofthese charactersthese charactersBoth characters play the leading role in the film. Sam follows themore stereotypical view of a black male in a society due to himrepresenting the majority of young males that come fromcouncil estates and suburban areas. Throughout his role heeventually breaks from this stereotype and wants to form a newidentity and try and leave the past behind him.Kyron in a way flips the views of the black stereotype due tohim being the protagonist or so called hero in the film. Ratherthan him being in full control of the situation, he is moreunaware /confused compared to anyone else in the film. He isonly doing what he is told to do due to him lacking choice. Thisbreaks typical conventions rather than him trying to fit into agang orientated social group. 4. ArchetypeArchetypeSam is a character that some audiences are meat to connectwith. Although he tries to do whats right he doesnt always dothe right things morally. This therefore at times can lead theaudience to questioning his actions and make a finaljudgement on him as a character when they get to know himmore. Also due to his actions that he has committed in the past, this can also somewhat change some peoples judgement onhis character.Kyron on the other hand is a hero who fights for what hebelieves is right for both himself and society. The only differenceis that Kyron suffers from being misunderstood by thecommunity around him with many feeling as if his actions arentbringing benefits but problems. This is not the case however. Heis only misunderstood due to the colour of his skin and the wayin which he dresses. He also comes across extremelyintimidating due to his size but behind all the anger his faceconveys he is a kind hearted character. 5. Values and BeliefsValues and BeliefsSam is a character that on the outside seems like he is a personthat only cares about himself and know one else. This is due tohis gritty appearance and anger in his face. Its also a view thathas been set on him due to the actions he has committed inthe past. Deep down though although he cares a lot abouthimself and his own safety. He tries his best not to involve thosewho he cares about in his affairs.Kyron is a character that always puts himself before others. He isan extremely religious character but at times questions thepresence of God when he is in a cry for help. The only reasonhe is in the situation he is in throughout the film is due to thestruggle of his family and him wanting to help them. All hehopes for is for a better life for him and his family. 6. Appearance and CostumeAppearance and CostumeSam throughout the film is shown wearing things like baggyjeans, tracksuit bottoms and hoodies which is an extremelystereotypical view of the suburban dress code within London. Italso gives a representation of his class in society just looking atthe things in which he wears. He never usually smiles and, similarto Kyron, has a constant angry looking face which creates theextremely stereotypical view of a black young male from asuburban area/council estate.Kyron dresses extremely similar to Sam also wearing baggylooking hoodies and tracksuit bottoms. This again follows theextremely stereotypical views of how young black males arerepresented in sociaty. This in turn can lead to many peoplehaving a false misconception of a character on first glance. 7. Relationships with othersRelationships with othersAt first glace Sam seems like an extremely reserved andantisocial character keeping himself to himself and notinterfering in anybody elses business unless in effects him. This isdue to him only being released from prison and due to manyrival gangs wanting to kill him. As we get deeper into the filmhowever, we see Sam caring for others more but most of thetime keeps his head up and tries to keep himself away fromtrouble. Hes a character that regrets his actions in his past andwants to move on with his life for the better.Kyron on the other hand makes it evident that he cares for hisfamily and friends around him and would go to extreme lengthsjust to keep them safe, even if hes putting himself in danger. 8. SimilaritiesSimilarities- They both at times follow the black stereotype in termsof their appearance but also both break it in termsof their actions, more so Kyron compared to Sam- Theyre both similar age- They have the same/ similar dress codes- Both characters look out for themselves and at timestheir friends and family. More so Kyron the Sam- They are both from London- Both of them have character development- They both break away from a misunderstood clichstereotype, seeking out a different lifestyle andwanting to leave the past behind them. 9. DifferencesDifferencesSam in his early years enjoyed causing trouble and at timesbeing violent. This was his representation in the film kidulthood. He comes across and an antisocial character that doesntshare his feelings and keeps himself to himself. Sam isnt happywith his position in life. He regrets what he did in the past andwants to try to move on and feel accepted again.Kyron as a character is open to how close he is with his familyand friends. Although he dresses the way he does, he is a kindhearted religious young man. He takes things extremely seriouslyif him or his family are in danger. He does not enjoy violence orhurting people for that matter and he is happy with his positionin life. 10.
