To begin this project, Nottingham Loves…Vintage I started mind mapping of all things that came to mind. I chose Vintage due to my interests in clothes, shopping and vintage items.

Strangely my starting point was wallpapers. When thinking of the word vintage one thing that c0omes to mind is florals. It was not just the flowers that stood out to me when sampling, it was also the textures of some of them. Not smooth like most of todays wallpapers.

The Different Colours Of Vintage Vintage differs depending on the time. Vintage varies from anything from the 1920s to the present day. Colour is something that changes with time, like most things do.-black and white-sepia-colour. The colours I am considering using when creating my product are pasel colours such, pinks, blues, yellows and greens

To the left of this page shows small moodboards of all things vintage. The top being everything from photos, cards clothes and passports. The second one concentrating on clothes and lastly font.

The second page shows the beginning stage of creating my map. I chose this map due to its colouring and it vintage effect.

A quick sketch

The aim is to create a map of Nottingham city centre, however this map like shown on the left will indicate where you find these shops using icons.

Then the idea of making the map into a postcard came to mind, however I went against this idea as it wasn’t going to have worked as I first though it would have.

Online Research

The following pages show research into online shopping and that second hand clothing is not just about charity shops now. Everyone is after vintage, there was a time not long a go where you could buy great items for great prices. However now the increased demands for vintage items means higher prices. It has also been found not only charity shops and independent vintage stores are selling these items, online stores such as ASOS have their own vintage clothing line, ASOS Marketplace as well as high street shop urban outfitters have a renewal section meaning more competition than ever.
