The cover features a baby swimming towards a dollar bill, the band name and album title. I think the image refers to a natural predisposition to the so called “American Dream”. The image on the album cover in my opinion is used to highlight the band’s firm standing as an alternative and ‘quirky’ group. The grunge, alternative rock genre is clearly visible to perforate through this cover.

I think this cover for the Beatles’ album Abbey Road is interesting as it was released at the time when they were already firmly established as a popular music group. The photo is representative of the origins of the band and I feel that it attempts to suggest a kind of hierarchy throughout the group as John Lennon is seen leading as the following band members trail behind him.

Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of The Moon” album cover attempts to establish the band as a particularly innovative and creative persona and may suggest that their music is deeply ambiguous and meaningful. The psychological reference to the prism as a trick-of-the-eye establishes a link to their (at the time) futuristically psychedelic sounds.
