• Surface Water Pollution - Dumping of garbage in rivers, lakes, oceans and seas by humans

• Chemical Pollution -Insecticides being washed away into water bodies

• Ships letting out unwanted oil at sea. (petrol and disel)

• Chemical waste from factories in water bodies.• Farmers washing out their farms and its water

• Thermal pollution is a sudden increase or decrease in temperature of a natural water body..

• Cleaning of land can cause erosion into the rivers.

• Sewage generated from homes or run off from septic tanks into nearby rivers
