The foundations

First of all paj productions uses quite a few on the previous list, as main conventions in an action move. This being without developing or challenging (possibly). These being more essentials and basic facets of the surrounding film market to make sure the audience understand what type of genre our short two minutes is By keeping the basics it builds almost a blue print for the audience, or the foundations that every film needs. This is like having a beginning middle and an end. It compulsory to have these for the storyline so that we can build around the stronger links that are just used to then go on to develop or challenge in other points.

These are: titles, establishing shot, narrative, mise-en-scene,

Small cliff hanger, ambience, mystery, suspense/tension

By threeseven having a small cliff hanger at the end of the two minutes it certainly develops the storyline and plot. Our cliff hanger was an audio of a gunshot and a shot of a gun being pointed towards the victim (audience on screen). This develops the conventions of an action genre because it develops the storyline and the plot and many other action films have chosen to include this before. Which then eliminates the challenging side; its not so much a leap of uniqueness. It helps build suspense an tension for the audience, so they are lured in to watch more and more of the film. Instead of just having a clear first two minutes it helps build mystery within threeseven, a whodunit? And who got shot. Even though we see who is the victim anything could have happened after the black out transition that develops the plot and creates the capability for sympathy towards the seen victim. Audience then build a relationship with the film, by wanting to guess who died and why they died; thus creating stories in their heads. And therefore not only are we developing the story, our audience choose to develop their own continuation. So in conclusion, involving a suspense, ambiance filled and mysterious cliff hanger it clearly develops the two minutes to wider the horizons and imagination for our audience and then our film.

Symbolism, mise-en-scene, character introductions

Paj productions challenges the genre of action films by choosing to involve symbolism. Our symbolism is within our characters and how they symbolise and represent todays teen society, and their considerable struggles of gang crime. It is a serious matter within an entertainment film. The rough and grittiness scene theyre in adds to this (part of mise-en-scene). Their appearances make them who theyre and creates their first impression; which is everything within a film. The characters show the audience the overlooked roughness that isnt taken seriously and dealt with within any area that is small and local (setting). And that is what they symbolise. These conventions challenge the market as its a unique way of symbolising such a passionate and overlooked point that is typically and harshly stereotyped.
