UNITY WORKFLOW
On this assignment we were tasked with
completing a 3D map on the Unity engine using
various textures and browsing to find individual
props to add to our terrain, this was then used
to create our desired theme which for mine
would a medieval city.
THE TASK INTRODUCTION

In this image I
begin to model
the terrain
using various
brushes and
increasing to a
bigger brush
size to
efficiently and
quickly create
my landscape.
MODELLING TERRAIN
On these
images I show
adding
dif ferent
textures to the
brush so it
then can be
painted onto
the landscape.
ADDING TEXTURE
Here I show
the basic
interpretation
of what the
terrain will
look like
having two
segments
being a grass
terrain and
rock terrain.
FULLY TEXTURED TERRAIN
On these
Images I
demonstrate
how to import
a texture and
making
changes to it
through
photoshop.
CREATING OUR OWN TEXTURE
Here I show
the texture
that I chose
and imported,
which as you
can see I
began to use
that to apply
to the terrain
ADDING TEXTURE TO THE TERRAIN
Here on
these
images I
used a
texture
editor which
allows you
to create a
variety of
dif ferent
textures
and then
saving them
to my task
folder.
USING AND SAVING A TEXTURE WITH A
TEXTURE EDITOR
Here I start
to add a few
walls and
houses so I
can begin to
build upon
my medieval
town
separating it
into 4
portions to
walk around.
IMPROVING TOWN AREA

I begin to
work on the
other
sections of
the town
where you
can see the
arrow
indicates my
progress on
the stables
area.
ADDING BUILDINGS TO THE CITY
In this section
of the town I
begin to got
into detail by
adding props
including
barrels, crates
and large
bricks.
IMPROVING TOWN AREA
In the stables
area I add
horses and
water troughs
to indicate
that livestock
will be kept
here, also
add a few
small props
including
crates.
CREATING STABLES
In this image I am in the process of building a temple area within the medieval town, this involved in placing various tiles in dif ferent places around the shrines to indicate I being a older part of the town.

small storage
area in a
section of the
town holding
various crates
and barrels,
with a fence
around the
storage area.
ADDING CRATES AND BARRELS
In this image
I show the
main
entrance of
the town
which has
barricades
around the
entrance
which will
serve as a
non
accessible
location for
the player.
IMPROVING GATEHOUSE
after working
on the main
town I begin
to build a
small ruined
town close to
it, this is
where I will
start adding
destroyed
buildings and
a broken wall
surrounding
them.
RUINED TOWN IMPROVEMENTS
After getting the
main part of the
ruined town
complete I then
start to add
detailed props to
it so I can give
the place a bit
more realism to
it. I done this by
adding wooden
barricades
around the
entrance.

I have added
tents and
campfires
inside the
ruins to
indicate that
people try
rebuild inside
the ruined
town.
ADDING TENTS

I added two
guards with a
tent and
surrounded by
wooden
barricades,
this is to
indicate that
they have
been posted
there to
guard the
ruins.

Here in this
image I add a
few skeletons
to the
entrance to
show that the
ruins were
inhabited by
people at one
point.

This is image I show a skeleton in gold armour and holding a spear and gold shield laying to a knocked down chair, this is suppose to indicate the king of the ruined town next to his throne.
KING SKELETON REMAINS AND THRONE
Moving back
to the
medieval
town I
replace all
the walls and
towers with
better
detailed
constructs,
also adding a
few small
props around
it aswell.

I add the final
adjustments
which include
repositioning
and
retexturing
props.
ADDING IMPROVEMENTS THE CITY

I have
retextured
the bricks
surrounding
the entrance
to match the
wall and
towers
textures.

Finally in this
image I show
the finished
result of the
medieval city
and ruined
town I
created, this
includes four
sections to
the city and
the
encampment
within the
ruins.
