From mythological stories Amar Chitra Katha has gone real. The popular book series now pays tributes to our war heroes. The group has released a 248 page book on 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees and how they fought to keep our country safe.

From the life of Naib Subedar Bana Singh, who had captured a post in Siachen at a height of 20,000 feet in 1987 to the life of Captain Vikram Batra, this book, in form of a series, salutes all our heroes. Param Vir Chakra: The Ultimate honour is a 248 page tribute to our brave soldiers who fought for the nation, their lives, and their courageous sacrifice.

This edition of Amar Chitra Katha covers the lives of our soldiers from childhood to the wars they fought.

The team at Amar Chitra Katha worked along with the Indian Army to carefully detail how these soldiers were inspired to join the forces and take on the enemies on the battlefield.

"We have worked closely with the Indian Army, from the different wars and the various landscapes, we had to change illustrations to match those details. The Indian Army was with us at every step," said Editor-in-chief of Amar Chitra Katha Reena Puri.

This is the first time a comic series has taken up the challenge of representing our defence forces and India's rich military heritage.

Interestingly, of the 21 soldiers featured in the series, only three are alive today. The featured war heroes have been part of the Kashmir Operations in 1947-48, India-China War in 1962, Indo-Pakistan wars in 1965 and 1971 and the Kargil conflict of 1999.

"It was a serious responsibility for those involved in the project as it took them close to two years to complete the Brave Hearts Stories Book.

Within that time, there were 11 artists, 5 scriptwriters and 6 colourists who jointly worked on it and finally Param Vir Chakra: The Ultimate honour was born," a group member revealed.

The comic series aims to not only bringing the younger generation closer to the great deeds of our valiant soldiers, but to also make them understand that there is a great deal of sacrifice that our armed forces are making is made every day to keep us safe and secure. Thank You…!
