THE PYRAMIDS OF GIZA

A FEW WORDS FOR THE PYRAMIDS…

The pyramids of Giza are the oldest surviving monuments of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world and are the most famous pyramids in the world. Located in Egypt. Its construction dates back to 2580 BC and is located in the Giza Necropolis.

The cluster was probably used for the burial of Pharaoh and was built during fourth dynasty of Egypt.

THE PYRAMIDS:KHUFU,KHAFRA,MYKERINOY

In ancient necropolis of Giza belong: the Pyramid of Khufu also known as the "Great Pyramid", the slightly smaller Pyramid of Khafra and the relatively modest-sized Pyramid of Mykerinou. All three belonged to the Fourth Dynasty. Together they formed a vast complex of smaller pyramids (queens) , funerary temples and tombs officials.

In the Necropolis also belongs the famous Great Sphinx.

THE KHUFU PYRAMID The largest and most famous is the

Pyramid of Khufu while the other two are smaller and located some meters away from the pyramid of Khufu.Its height is 146.60 meters and has got perfectly square base with side 230.35 m ; it makes great impression to modern scholars for its time of construction . It has a volume of 2,521,000 cubic meters ,it covers an area of 54,000 square meters and its estimated weight

reaches 6.5 million tons.
