Target Audience Research – Analysis of Survey results

I did a survey to find out what type of target audience my magazine will be aiming for.

I asked about 10 people to do my survey.

I conducted my survey on surveymonkey.com

Question 1This shows that 9/10 people that took my survey were girls and only 1/10 was male.

This suggests that my pop magazine should mainly be targeted towards females.

Question 2The highest result was 16 years old and the least was 14 and 15.

This could suggest that my target audience for the magazine should be aimed at people in the range of 14 to 17 years old.

Question 3The results for question 3 suggest that most of the people I asked, listen to pop music. About 50% of result shows that they listen to mainly pop.

This suggests that my magazine should be a pop magazine since it’s the answer with the highest result.

Question 4The results for question 4 suggests that most of the people I asked listen to about 3 to 5 hours of music in a day.

This suggests that they listen to music on a daily basis so this could also suggest that they are music lovers.

Question 5The highest result I got for question 5 is no. About 70% of the 10 people I asked don’t buy music magazines often.

This could be because teenagers are quite cautious with what they spend their money on since it’s usually their savings. So, they might think that investing their savings on a magazine isn’t worth the value for how much they have to pay.

These results suggest that, I should make my magazine seem more appealing and worth its value if I’m going to sell it at a particular price.

Question 6The highest result I got for question 6 was ‘£1 to £2.99’. This suggests that most of them aren’t really fond of buying magazines thus why the highest they’d pay is about £2.99.

This suggests that for my magazine, I should do it to the maximum price of £2.99 so that more people would be willing to buy it at that price.

Question 7The highest result I got for question 7 is the answer “interview with an artist”. This suggests that most of the people I asked, prefer to have the main feature about an interview with an artist.

This suggests that when I create my double page spread, it should feature an interview with an artist since that was the popular choice.

Question 8The two highest results I got for question 8 is ‘blue, pink and purple’ and ‘white, blue and pink’. This suggests that the people I asked believe that these colours can be associated with pop music.

This suggests that my pop music magazine should follow either of those colour schemes since those colours relate to the music genre, pop.

Question 9The highest result I got for question 9 is ‘physical copy’. This suggests that most of the people I asked prefer obtaining a physical copy rather than a digital copy.

This suggests that I should find a magazine publisher that publishes their magazines as physical copies which can be distributed to stores.

Question 10The highest result I got for question 10 was ‘solo shot’. This suggests that most of the people I asked prefer the front cover to have a solo shot of the main feature on it.

This suggests that my magazine’s front cover should have a solo shot of the model so that it’s appealing to the audience and also, a solo shot makes the main feature stand out more.
