2. PARA QUE USAMOS REDES SOCIALES?THE NOT-SO-THE OBVIOUS OBVIOUS Encontrar Es poderosoamigos viejos Tiene potencial Hacer amigos Es un deportede equiponuevos Para discipular a Es fcillos campistas Es divertido Es el futuro 3. WHY USE SOCIAL MEDIA FOR MINISTRY?CONNECT Yes, we are in ministry, but networking and communicationare required! Connect with volunteers Build new connections for ministry! Connect with other people who do what you do and getquick access to quality resources that they share on theirown tweets, blogs, or Facebook Supporters will have a greater sense of being connectedwith you through more communication. At the VERY LEAST, an update in a Facebook News Feedfrom LArcada or you is a great reminder to your financialsupporters that you still exist.(Consider using Facebook & Twitter lists to stay organized) 4. WHY USE SOCIAL MEDIA FOR MINISTRY? ENGAGE We have an opportunity to join in a global conversationgoing on all around us every day, and to engage inministry every day. Disciple your volunteers/campers long after theyve gonehome for the summer (consider using Facebook Groupsto do this) 5. WHY USE SOCIAL MEDIA FOR MINISTRY? INFORM Social Media is a great, quick way to reach people. Sharing Not only can you reach people, but byreaching your fans/friends/followers, you enable all ofTHEM to join the team, and to easily pass along invitesand information to family & friends. This, in turn, increases awareness for your ministry. 6. WHY USE SOCIAL MEDIA FOR MINISTRY? EVERYONE IS ALREADY THERE! 8 years ago, all we had were websites. But Websites will NEVER see the kind of trafficthat Social Media will. Websites will never have the kind of personalinvestment/engagement from your usersthat Social Media will. 7. WHY USE SOCIAL MEDIA FOR MINISTRY?ITS FREE! 8. ALSO Jesus was masterful at communicating spiritualtruths in settings and with language that connectedwith his listeners. Paul strived to be fluent in the language of hisculture (1 Cor. 9:22). When used wisely, social media is a powerful toolfor church leaders serious about this rich legacy ofcontextualized communication. This is the language of our listeners! 9. ENTRE HOY Y MANANA1. Well create a Social Media Plan which networks are right for you relational social networking? Where should you invest your energy?2. Well talk through how to claim your physical location through Google, Facebook, y FourSquare to encourage check-ins (aka free publicity)3. Well learn how maximize your time with a Social Media Champion and Viral Carriers4. Well talk about how you can optimize your website to work with social media & be found more easily.5. Well talk about how to integrate current print resources with social media.6. Well have fun, and learn a LOT!!! 10. MY RECOMMENDATIONSEvery Business/Camp/Ministry should be active on: Facebook Twitter YouTube A Website that is connected with Google, has lots of images(so it can be easily shared) and videos (from YouTube) And at least one more depending on your audience (Blogwith Tumblr orBlogger, FourSquare, Vimeo, Google+, Flickr, depende desu audenca o comunidad (Un Blog con Tumblr oWordpress oBlogger, FourSquare, YouTube, Google+, Flickr, Vimeo, Ustream, LiveStream, etc.) 11. www.facebookaddictiondisorder.net 12. FACEBOOK OPTIONS:PROFILE GROUPPAGEThis is for an individual This is for a group of This is for a(NEVER FOR Aindividualsbusiness, company, braBUSINESS) (NEVER FOR A nd, or celebrityBUSINESS)-its impossible to have a*Consider using listspage without having ato organize your friendsEx: To communicate profilewith volunteers-there can be more than 1 administrator of a page 13. FACEBOOK GROUPSFacebook Groups are a great resource for private communication.1. Control who sees your group (3 levels of security) Secret only members can see the group and what members post. Closed anyone can see the group. Only members can see the posts. Open (public) Anyone can see the group and what members post.2. Share with the group Post updates, questions, photos & more Chat with the group (You could have set office hours to communicate with the members of your group) Create shared docs Schedule group events3. Stay in the know1. Get notified about new posts so you never miss an update2. Connect off Facebook using the groups shared email address.www.facebook.com/groups (get started & find out more!) 14. PAGESFor public figures, organizations & businesses. Page Administrators (there can be more than one) can be private foradded security or public if it makes more sense. People and other pages (churches, other ministries, businesses, publicfigures) can connect to your page by liking your page and becomingyour fan. Work hard to form connections with logical ministry partners, andnetwork with influencers who might extend your ministrys reach. Your pages content is distributed virally when your audience respondsto or shares it.(Note: Pages cannot currently tag profiles, only other pages) 15. EVENTS Comes with all profiles and pages A great way to share prayer needs, upcoming events andmore with supporters. Upon creating an event, a News Feedstory with event info will post to your Page or Profile, and youraudience can RSVP. You can increase RSVPs by posting status updates leading upto the Event, emailing lists, and linking from your website/blog. Be careful about creating an event and people thinking that anRSVP there is good enough if you want them to RSVPonline. Liz says, I would creatively promote my next event withmore than a simple announcement. 16. FACEBOOK VS. WHY IS THIS SO POPULAR? Location based services allow users toconnect with others based on their currentlocations. In most cases, people use theirsmartphones(iPhone, Android, Blackberry), to check-into businesses like restaurants, bars andstores they visit. These locations are thenbroadcasted to their online friends. 25. WHY YOU NEED TO PARTICIPATE:1. PUBLICIDAD GRATIS - if users see their friends check in to a location, they may be more likely to visit2. CRTICAS - most location-based tools allow users to write review of the places they frequent. These reviews are then shared with other users who check in to those locations.3. OFERTAS sites allow businesses to unlock special deals by checking in. These specials encourage frequency, first-time visits, and competition among customers.4. If you dont take the initiative to set this up, someone else (one of your campistas) will do it for you. 26. FOURSQUARE.COM Location-based social networking website for mobile devices, such assmartphones. Users check-in at venues using a mobile website, text messaging, or anapp. Location is based on GPS hardware in the mobile device. Each check-in awards the user points and sometimes badges. Mayorship if a user has checked-in to a venue on more days than anyoneelse in the past 60 days, they will be crowned the mayor of that venue. Badges badges are earned by checking into various venues. (On October22, 2010, astronaut Douglas H. Wheelock unlocked the NASA Explorerbadge by checking into foursquare from the International Space Station.) Superuser status There are 3 levels of superuser status, selected byfoursquare staff for their helpful contributions to the community.https://foursquare.com/business/ 27. FACEBOOK PLACE PAGESAddresses in Spain are not yet recognized by Facebook, but Iexpect that will change any day now.Until then, if you do NOT yet have a Facebook Page, you shouldphysically go to your location with your phone, check in and thencreate a page based on that location. If you DO have a Facebook Page be patient! It will happen, andwhen it does, you will have access to Facebook Deals, FacebookRecommendations, Facebook Check-Ins and much more! 28. GOOGLE+ Google Plus is a social networking site created by Google to compete withFacebook. Google+ (written both ways) integrates social services such as Google Profilesand Google Buzz, organizes people into Circles, creates group video chat spotscalled Hangouts, and Sparks. Google+ Hangouts are a GREAT way to have meetings, share Google Docs, etc. Sparks allow users to identify topics they might be interested in sharing withothers. Connected with Picasa Google Pages opened on November 7, which allows users to set up profiles andthe syndication of posts relating to organizations. 29. CONNECTING TWITTER & FACEBOOK1.
