4.2. RATIONALE

According to the Malla curricular (2014), the English language is not considered as an academic subject for second to seventh grade students (basic general education), which is the cause of several academic problems when these students start their eighth grade. As it is described in Chapter II, the grammar is a fundamental aspect to develop reading comprehension as well as basic vocabulary, which is an advantage to facilitate the learning process.

This proposal will be a way students improve theirEnglish language learning. The implementation of a grammar guide with reading comprehension exercises will help seventh grade students learn basic grammar rules in order to develop reading comprehension in English.

This proposal aims to provide seventh grade students with English language basic skills to becomeeighth grade successful English learners.

The proposal will benefit seventh grade students from “Dra. Olga Quiñonez de Espinoza”, public School who will learn basic grammar rulesin order to apply reading strategies to develop reading comprehension in English as a foreign language.

4.4. FEASIBILITY OF THE PROJECT

The application of the proposal is feasible since the director and teachers at “Dra. Olga Quiñonez de Espinoza” public school, are interested in preparing students to acquire basic knowledge in English language. Moreover, students are interested and motivated to learn English as a foreign language.

4.5. DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPOSAL

The proposal of this project is to provide seventh grade students with English basic grammar rules to improve their language learning.

The basis of this project is to emphasize the acquisition of reading strategies to develop reading comprehension during the English learning process. This project will be carried out during the first school year term, with the support of the school community.

The proposal encompasses the design of a grammar guide with reading exercises designed for the seventh grade students.This guide develops several topics concerning basic grammar rules which have been carefully explained. Also there is a set of grammar exercises worksheets per topic which have been

categorized in different levels. students could The guide will allow students practice grammar rules as well as toreading comprehension. To achieve this goal the proposal provides easy, short and illustratedreadings to have students apply grammar structuresexposed.
