“Effective risk management must involve those most at risk”

Children and youth are repeatedly portrayed as victims of disaster and climate change.

Children and youth can and should be encouraged to participate in disaster risk reduction and decision making”

Natural hazards are increasing ‘children are among the most traumatized as their ability to cope with unexpected and painful interruptions

Some 66 million children are affected by disasters every year.

Destroyed or damaged schools force children out of school.

Malnutrition caused by the loss of food supplies cause stunting and lead to poor educational achievement and greater susceptibility to disease.
