Project Description:

This project is going to consist of multiple photographs of my subject dressed as Kurt Cobain. I will use a dark background and high key lighting whilst taking the image. I will then use the software Adobe Bridge to make the shot seem monochromatic by changing the saturation.

I will be using Medium shots, eye level, and facial shots to recreate the cover of my magazine. I will also use high key lighting and an edited image in Photoshop to adjust exposure to make it appear monochromatic or ‘Black and White’

Reference images and ideas: These images of the late Kurt Cobain who is included on the front cover of my chosen inspiration for my magazine. Although his chosen genre was grunge rock, his music influenced the whole rock genre for generations.

‘Unplugged’ has similar denotations to ‘Uncut’ magazine. It is also a term used as a slang term for acoustic guitar on stage (E.G. MTV unplugged)


Casting:

I will be casting myself for my front cover as have access to similar clothing to my inspiration. This shot will be a medium close up.

Model requirements: white, pale skin, blonde/light brown hair, thin/ defined face, facial hair, willing to where makeup or wig.

The participant doesn’t need to be a particular height as the shot is a medium shot and only focuses on the elbows and above rather than legs or full body.White skin, blonde hair (maybe light brown), thin face, and facial hair/ stubble, willing to wear makeup or wig.

Wardrobe and Look: tartan shirt, electric guitar, and leather jacket (maybe baggy jeans, converse shoes, however, these are unnecessary)

Hair and Make up: messy/wavy hair (preferably blond or light brown) and stubble.

Where: photography department/ school studio.

Casting:

I will be my main image’s subject. The shot will be a close up medium shot.
