Looking to be able to collect images for the music magazine REVAMP that are applicable for the genre and will be fit for purpose. This will help to producea 4-page spread for a new hip-hop/RnB publication that will include a front cover, contents page and DPS.

There will be a need for a range of shots to be taken so I am able to choose what is the best image to represent the magazine, these will include close ups, medium close ups and long shots, from low angle, high angle and eye level.There can be a mix of high key and low key lighting so to see which one works best.I intend to apply effects to maybe darken the image to give it a more urban effect so to tie in with the genre.

The reason behind this title is that REVAMP connotes a feeling of totally a new magazine that is bringing its own urban style to the genre.

Reference images and ideas:

These are an inspiration because it gives me an idea of what type of image I have to capture and what needs to be portrayed through the image for consumer’s to read the story. This is the main magazine I have looked at for my inspiration because of its good use of conventions.

Casting:

These people are suitable for the genre because of the attitude these models are portraying in these images and fit the profile of my magazine.The non-verbal code of the facial expression is key to conveying the attitude that is stereotypically represented in the genre, which is relaxed but gives a certain stance in a way that connects with the readers and relates to the genre.

Model requirements

The models I need have to be an average height person maybe from 5ft 6 to 5ft 10 because it represents a good height to be able to fit an image onto a DPS. They need to have a good sense of fashion so that can represent what an artist from this genre would wear. The stereotype they may represent is a musician that has risen from a working class background to making it as a major artist in the music scene.

Wardrobe and Look:

These images are suitable because it gives a clear representation of what artists from this genre actually do wear when performing or on a day to day basis. I have got inspiration from artists such as Drake, Eminem and Kanye West.

Hair and Make up:

The hair and makeup I need to choose will be either very basic or not need to at all. Maybe a bit of hair gel/wax because musicians from this genre don’t wear makeup. The inspiration I have got for this is Eminem and Drake because they are two mainstream artists in the genre.

Where:

The shoot will take place in various locations around Epsom because of the various options that can be used for urban locations in the area.

When:

It will take place in the daytime so the readers can get a full perspective of what the area is actually like.
