• NARALO stands for: North American Region At-Large Organization

• At-Large by itself refers to the community of Individual Internet users all over the world

• At-Large Structures refers to those organizations that represent individual Internet users.• NARALO is the only region that allows single

individuals to be represented by themselves

What is NARALO/At-LargeRegional Organizations

• ICANN At-Large Structures are organized in five (5) geographical regions• APRALO: Asian Pacific Regional At-Large Organization

• NARALO: North American Regional At-Large Organization

• LACRALO: Latin-American/Caribbean At-Large Organization

• AFRALO: Africa Regional At-Large Organization

• EURALO: Europe Regional At-Large Organization

• All these organizations are represented by the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) • ALAC is the organization that provides advice to the ICANN processes

• There are three members representin each region• Each region appoints/selects two representatives to participate in this

committee

• The NomCom selects the third member

NARALO consists of the civil society organizations, non-profits and individuals to represent the rights of Internet users across the region, from Hawaii, to Nunavut, to San Juan.

At-Large (individual Internet user community) for the North American region, providing news, key resources and interactive features for information sharing for individuals and end-user groups in the North American region interested in ICANN and shaping the

future of the Internet.

We represent their views in the bottom-up, consensus based, multi-stakeholder ICANN policy development process

What At-Large Regional Groups Do?

Each At-Large Region holds monthly meetings to develop is own view on current policy issues and provide input to At-Large's policy-making.

Together, At-Large:

■ Actively contributes to ICANN policy development

■ Draws ICANN's attention to emerging issues

■ Ensures that ICANN serves all stakeholders, from commercial to individual Internet users

■ Encourages greater accountability and transparency

■ Internationalized Domain Names

■ DNS Security and Stability

■ The WHOIS database

■ Registrant Rights and Responsibilities

NARALO Achievements

NARALO has been front and centre of At-Large from its beginning, but is proud to be one voice of many in At-Large's uniquely diverse constituency.

NARALO was:

■ The first Region to enable and empower individual memberships

■ Part of the first constituency to insist on multilingual interpretation for its meetings

■ A major promoter of a support program for developing countries applying for Generic Top Level Domains

NARALO has worked closely with other ICANN constituencies to:

■ Develop a balance between organizational domain naming rights and free speech

■ Define objection processes for new Generic Top Level Domains
