According to the Nanotechnology Victoria, estimates have been made of the number of new graduates needed by 2015 in order to support Nanotechnology research based industry, and preliminary figures indicate that over 1 million Nanotechnology-skilled personnel may be required.

Nanotechnology Future• The U.S. National Science Foundation has predicted that the

global market for nanotechnologies will reach $1 trillion or more within 20 years.

• Research community is actively pursuing hundreds of applications in nanomaterials, nanoelectronics, and bio nanotechnology.

• Most near term (1-5 years) applications of nanotechnology are in the form of nanomaterials. These include materials such as lighter and stronger nanocomposites, antibacterial nanoparticles, and nanostructured catalysts. Nanodevices and nanoelectronics are farther off, perhaps 5-15 years, and will have applications in medical treatments and diagnostics, faster computers, and in sensors.

• Receive sensitization kit including study material, CD (s) and assignments at your postal address.

• Self study of sensitization kit.

• Participate on web portal activities on www.nstc.in and receive internet based support.

• Submit assignments/ paper for award of Certification.

• Receive certification from "Nano Science and Technology Consortium“ after submission of paper.

• Receive on going support from "Nano Science and Technology Consortium".

Nanotechnology has applications in all conceivable areas, and scientist / researchers are finding newer applications of the nano materials and nano fabricated materials.Currently Nanotechnology is mostly used in Cosmetics, Medicine/ Drugs, Fabrics, Defence, energy and water purification, but with in few years all others domains will also be using nanotechnology as potential tool.
