Gorna Oryahovica is a small town near the old Bulgarian capital of Veliko Tarnovo. His feast is May 29.

Relief• Gorna Oryahovica is in the central part in front of “Old Mountain”.One of our

tourists landmarks is “The Stone”.His height is 439 m.In his locality is our traditional flower-peony.Soils are grey.The altitude of the city is 218 m.The most south part of the area is with mountain relief.

• Sunny days in Gorna Oryahovica are many.We are closer to the Equator,than the pole.Rains in the area are 565 l/m.

Nature• Plant and animal life around Gorna Oryahovica are varied. Only 5 km

southwest of the town is protected site Peony lawn - rare sources of peony, is one of the symbols of the city.Among them is the eaglewhich image is found on a medieval ring-print Rahovets fortress.In recent years summer nest in the park and a few pairs of black storks, and in winter along the river Yantra often see swans.

Cathedrals

Gorna Oryahovica have many cathedrals.There are two of them:

Historical museum

• Historical museum of the city was built before four decades on 21st of October 1962.His exhibition area is 500 m.In this area are historical past of the region.There are exting exponats like old radios,railway acsecoares and colections of old photos.

Rahovets fortress

Rahovets fortress was built in ІІІ and ІV century when the roman emperor Avrelii ІІІ built many fortresses and one of them is named

Rahovets.Altitude of fortress is 115 m.In the time of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom serve like leading way to the capital-

Tarnovgrad.Name “Rahovets” come from the persian “rah” which means “way”.But in time of Ottoman invasion the fortress is taken.
