CHURCHILL LIBRARY REPORT
decembER 2013
The library was the host to over 20 HOSA students for their testing competition.
Several sculpture pieces by students in Ms.Tsukifuji’s classes were installed in the library.
The library hosted the 21st Century Learning Professional Development session.
Eleven new wireless VDI computers were delivered to our library. These will make a total of 40 desktop computers available for use in the library.
The librarian met with the representative from Follett to discuss ordering Spanish titles, and to review the new options for searching for titles.
Carts of iPads, 2 for the library and 1 for Fine Arts, were delivered to the library. Several ITSs assisted in configuring and updating these iPads. Michael Benavides trained the librarian in the configuring of the settings as well as the restrictions settings and mail features.
The library hosted the Action Team and the Executive Staff meeting for Transforming the Future.
Displays for the month included: Warm-up with a Good Book, December Holidays, and The Best Gifts are Hand Made.
Churchill’s UIL Academic Teams continue to meet and practice every Tuesday morning and afternoon, both before and after school.
The 21st Century Learning Professional Development was hosted in the library.
The library welcomed the Action Team and Executive Staff for a “Transforming the Future” meeting.
Ms. Charlton’s AP English III students searched in SIRS Researcher database for articles to support their argument of definition project.
Ms. Holliday-Johnson’s Environmental Science students registered for their Google Accounts, created documents, and shared these through links uploaded to a Google Spreadsheet.
Ms. Jett’s Journalism students culminated their photography research in the library by creating brochures.
Ms. Wales’ Parenting class researched topics in SIRS Researcher related to parenting issues and created Google documents to share with her via email.
Dr. Wulfsberg’s English IV classes spent three days researching Courtly Love and Chivalry. They created shields with images that symbolized these topics and quotations exemplifying the images. Citations were included for each image and quotation source.
Ms. Carrier’s European History class researched various topics and people related to the French Revolution. Their final product was a magazine with several articles, interviews, and at least one advertisement related to their research.
Ms. Mann’s Pre-AP English II classes created a bibliography for their readings from throughout the semester.
