Issues in Education

• A school from the 19th Century

• A teacher from 20th Century

• A student from the 21st Century

A change of paradigm in Education?

• from transmission to transaction (cognitivism, constructivism and socio constructivism)

• The teacher is an expert, but also a mediator between knowledge and student, a coach, an animator and creator of situations and activities. Sometimes a learner. He facilitates learnings.– The roles of the teacher may be distributed between several

persons (teacher-contents author, teacher -lessons designer, tutor in charge of interactions with learners)

• The learner is an active collaborator and the actor of his own traning, sometimes an expert. He participates to the construction of his own knowledge.

A change of paradigm in Education?

• Teaching is focused on the student’s learning and the development of skills

• The organization is leaded by the situations, the organization is defined with a pedagogical scenario

• Learners actively analyze information in a critical way through searching, solving problems and projects management

• Learners transform information into knowledge and sense• Knowledge is a dynamic process and not a static thruth• The assessment is formative and not only summative• Contents are developped and shared in network
