• Strong relationship with an originating course.

• Usually few weeks long.• Online access with short

videos and quiz-type assessment.

• Peer support. • Assessment: automated

evaluation, peer assessment etc.

• ’Flipped classroom’

• In practise:– Works for people who can cope

with the challenge, but not necessarily for those who needs support.

– Offer a good route for professional development, leisure learning and the study of courses alongside formal learning.

– 10% of people who registered on a MOOC complete the course.

• Still…– MOOCs are evolving.
