Traditional Curriculum was formulated a long time ago. Though I believe learning is good but there is still lacking in the learning. This curriculum does not consider the learners fully. This was built long before the curriculum makers spot that there is really a need to consider the learners as the primary factor to be considered. On the other hand, the Progressive Curriculum was formulated to meet the learning needs of the students. It integrates technology which is highly needed in the fast evolving society. It uses various methods of teaching. Generally, it is student-centered where all the senses are involved to make sure that learners learn qualitatively and the better the learning.

My Personal Insights
The school I have visited embraces all the curricula, I believe. K to 12 curriculum is proposed by authorized personnel as a product of their study to produce fully baked students in the future. Since k to 12 is being used in this school and it is a combination of some types of curricula, I believe it is the best among all curricula.

My Analysis
We need to consider the traditional and progressive points of view of curriculum
because there is a need to adapt to the changing needs of the learners. Through
considering the points of view, we could be able to gather data that are essential in
considering every aspect of the learners to develop learning.
Educational philosophies such as essentialism, progressivism, perennialism and
the like really are related to the school I have just visited through the teaching methods of
the teachers. Their methods are somehow integrating part of essentialism, part of
progressivism, and a part of perennialism. Progressivism, since one teacher lets her
students do some board work which students are actively engaged.
There is a need to revise the curriculum from time to time because of the fast
changing needs of learning and learning styles of the learners. As the time goes by, the
learners constantly change and there is a need for the curriculum to cope and meet the
learners’ needs and to holistically mold the concern. Revision of curriculum means to
update the contents into latest contents to be able to perfectly fir the present needs to be
learned. Also, in order to revise strategies of teaching that will cater learning needs.

My Reflections/My Insights
Curriculum is the heart and soul of every school. I learned that a school could not
stand without a curriculum. As I observed, a curriculum needs to meet every single need
of learners as much as possible. It is where the teaching strategies be formulated, be put
into action, and continually used. However, curriculum should be changed and revised if
it does not bridge the gap of learning. I believe there is also a need to integrate
technology in the teaching to cope with the present needs.
