PERCEPTION
Perception is dependent upon the
interaction of the individual with the
stimulus.
STIMULUS CHARACTERISTICS
(External Cues)
1. INTENSITY- the more intense the stimulus, the more likely it is to be attended to and perceived.
2. REPETITION
- repeating a fundamental motif is more effective.
3. CONTRAST- means an intensified difference from the immediate surroundings.
4. CONTINUITY- maintain a flow of regularity are better perceived than discontinuous irregular stimuli.
5. CLOSURE- previous experience facilitates closure.
6. MOVEMENT
- moving stimuli are more likely to attract attention than stationary ones.
