PoliceSome information about Cannabis, the law and the Police: •Cannabis is a Class B drug so it means that if you are caught with it you could get up to 5 years in prison•If you’re caught with Cannabis the police will always take action•Research shows that Cannabis is a gateway drug and can lead to users taking more serious drugs•The police come into school and do a talk about the dangers of drugs useIn your group discuss the following:•How could taking drugs now effect Jay in later life?•What would a criminal record prevent him from doing in the future?•Why do the Police come into school to give talks on the danger of drugs?
School NurseSome information about Cannabis, the law and the Police: •They run a drop in centre in school at break and lunchtimes•Smoking Cannabis can lead to mental health problems such as schizophrenia•The longer people use Cannabis the more dependant people become and the harder it is to give it up.•Regular, heavy use makes it difficult to learn and concentrate. Some people begin to feel tired all the time and can't seem to get motivated.
In your group discuss the following:•What are the risks in taking drugs, such as Cannabis?•Why is it so important that somebody taking drugs gets help?•How could the School Nurse help Jay?

range of points of view and perspectives• You need to respect ‘Jeremy Kyle’ – remember, he
can get security to escort you out of the studio!!!• ‘Jeremy’ needs to make sure we hear all voices
and views …• … and s/he will then have to sum up with advice!
