DRAWING STAGETHINGS TO REMEMBER

CONCEPT ART

When starting to draw out the storyboard, characters are vital to the piece, but its not a matter of just drawing a random figure and using that right away. Not in a professional place. It takes many tests, drawings and styles before they come to a final design and it will be similar for me when I am making my storyboard. I will start out with the face of the character.

FACIAL EXPRESSIONS

Facial expressions are super important when it comes to animation as it displays the characters emotions clearly but it also gives a lot more personality to the character and makes it look a lot more smooth and free-flowing. When I finally had an idea of my character design I drew different facial expressions for her.

PROPORTIONS

This can depend on the type of animation you are doing. Sometimes the proportion of the characters doesn’t matter, for instance if you were doing ‘chibi’ art where the heads are bigger than their bodies. For the animation I’m doing proportion is important, as well as finding images on the internet, a friend also stood in different poses (ones that I’m likely to use so that I can draw more accurately)

FINAL DESIGN

This character was my final design because I like the kind of Disney style look to it, I experimented with clothes (top of the image) and eventually put it all together along with what I had learnt with body proportions and gaining inspiration from Pinterest. I still have to work on what death will look like as a character as well as design a setting in the future. Also I will need to work on drawing animals.
