E.G - Company logo, setting, titles, directors name, introducing main characters
HORRORS
In horrors there is usually a lot of gore and you would possibly have derelict houses, woods, graveyard, death, gore and the majority of the time its link to someone being murdered or a mystery.
THRILLERS In thrillers they usually leave you with a full of question marks(not
straight forward). In thrillers they can be an abduction, killer, stalker, it has a lot more suspense, it makes you jump and make you feel thrilled leaves you at the edge of your seat and finally there is usually a twist included. its mainly based around 'CRIME' . Thrillers are usually set in an urban environment, thrillers are associated with puzzle, mystery and enigmas.
EDITING (TERMINOLOGY)
Continuity - cutting shots tells a story with narrative continuity. 180 degree eye line - realism smooth flow from shot to shot Special effects - further manipulates the mise en scene = visual information you get
from a scene. Transitions - straight cut flow > realism Shot duration, pace & rhythm Shot selection & order - connection & emphasis ( juxtaposition) (two shots together) = screen time Continuity - parallel editing - convey the impression that two or more events occurring
simultaneously often used to build tension. Montage Editing - giving information in a compressed way. Short shot duration - conveys > action & urgency. Long shot duration -conveys > intensity & intimacy within the narrative. Editing - controls what information we get & get in. Ellipses - compression of time - narrative device
