REPORT OF CONSTRUCTING A TRIANGULAR PYRAMID FROM USED PAPER

Constructing a Triangular Pyramid from Used Paper

I. PurposeThe purpose of this activity are to introduce about hands on activity which the student could study that not only listen to the teacher or we can say that “Learning by Doing”, and also to know about Triangular Pyramid such as the formula, the amount of its corners, edges and faces.

II. Materials and ToolsIn this activity, I used some materials and tool, such as :

1. For tool : Scissors

2. For materials : Used paper Glue

III. Steps of WorkThe steps of work constructing a triangular pyramid from used paper are :

1. Prepare the materials and tool that we need to do this hands on activity.

2. Roll a sheet of used paper parallel to its diagonal.

3. And then, glue the end of its corner.

4. Do again the second and the third step until we have two rolled sheets.

5. And then, group into three persons, so we have six rolled sheets.

6. Cut one end of two rolled sheets about two centimeters.

7. Cut two ends of one rolled sheets about two centimeters.

8. So, we still have three rolled sheets which not cut. Use that three rolled sheets to construct based area of triangular pyramid.

9. And then, twist its corner of that rolled sheets.

10. After that, put in the rolled sheets that we have cut its end in to its corner that have twisted. Do this for all corners.

After put in the rolled sheets, become like this

11. After we have put in three rolled sheets, twist again another end of two rolled sheets, then put in that in to the rolled sheets which have cut its two ends.

12. A triangular pyramid from used paper have done. To make it become stronger, we can glue its corrner.

Here the photos of a triangular pyramid from used paper that I have made from this hands on activity.

V. SugesstionAfter did this hands on activity, we know that this activity could make us learning by doing. From this activity constructing a triangular pyramid from used paper, we can know how the shape of pyramid, and we can know the formula of the triangular pyramid too. And I hope this hands on activity could be do in every school in Indonesia especially in Elementary and Junior High School, because from hands on activity the students will get experience and the information from that hands on activity will be unforgetable for them. And the student can enjoy the lesson too, we know that study with happiness that’s the good way to accept a knowledge.
