GENERAL ENVIRONMENT OF AN ORGANIZATIONThe general environment of an organization refers to a range of factors or forces outside an organization that may influence the performance and operation of a business.Key dimensions of the environment that bear on the institution include the economic context,technology context,sociocultural context,political-legal context,and international context.An analysis of all this dimensions are an attempt to understand the conditions outside its boundaries and help to shape how the organization defines itself & how it articulates what is good & appropriate to achieve.
There are two types of environment in an organization basically:

External Environment

CompetitorsThere are some competitors doing the same business in Bangladesh.They are:

Customers They operate their service for all level of peoples. They provide Especially Package for retailer like “POLLI phone” And also provided the “dejuice” package for young generation.
Mainly their targeting people is business related people of this country.
Suppliers Trnsmitters cable that comes from Finland.Sim,Server system & other technology from China.
Strategic PartnersThe strategic partners of Grameenphone are;
Society for Economic and Basic Advancement (SEBA)Eagle,nationwide, Kalikapur Daridro Kallan Sangsta(KDKS), Socio-Economic Development Association(SEDA), SSTD Communication,divisionally.
Regulators The Bangladesh Telecomunications Regulatory Commission a statutory body,was formed in
January 2002. It is trying to build competence and run projects with the help of ITU, World Bank and other
international organizations.
TechnologicalGP was the first company to introduce GSM technology in Bangladesh when it launched its services in March 1997.GSM brings the most advanced developments in cellular technology at a reasonable cost. It has 10000 base stations in more than 5700 locations & 98% population(Voice+EDGE/GPRS)and also Indoor & Highway coverage.
EconomicalGrameenphone has great contribution on economy:
It pays over tk. 6 billion in the tax section in recent year. It creates a large number of job opportunities,which reduce unemployment problem. And they do many work to develop the economic system of our country.
Social cultureIt focuses social responsibility involvement in three main area.They are-
Health,Education&Empowerment.
Keeping their vision in mind-We are here to help;GrameenPhone aim to extend their contribution to the development of healthcare system.
GP plan to develop an educated and Skilled workforce through creating opportunity in capacity development,share knowledge and contribute to the economy of Bangladesh.
Empowerment is a key constituent towards poverty reduction & it is a key driver for sustainable economic development.
Political-LegalThe GrameenPhone is not involves any political activities.
The regulatory relationship between business and the government(legal system)and its agencies that define what organizations can and can’t do.
International It has substantial international operations in Mobile Telephony,Satellite Operations and Pay
Television Services. In addition to Norway and Bangladesh,Telenor AS owns GSM companies in
Denmark,Austria,Hungary,Russia,Ukraine,Montenegro,Thailand,Malaysia and Pakistan.
