26 Generalized, Irregular, Distorted Small Bowel Folds

• Fig GI 26-1 Whipple's disease.
• Fig GI 26-2 Giardiasis. Irregular fold thickening is most prominent in the proximal small bowel.
• Fig GI 26-3 Lymphoma. In addition to diffuse, irregular thickening of the small bowel folds, there is mesenteric involvement causing separation of bowel loops.
• Fig GI 26-4 Amyloidosis.
Fig GI 26-5 Eosinophilic enteritis. The irregular thickening of folds primarily involves the jejunum. There is no concomitant involvement of the stomach.
• Fig GI 26-6 Strongyloidiasis. Predominant involvement of the duodenal sweep.
• Fig GI 26-7 Yersinia enterocolitis. Nodular pattern of thickened folds in the terminal ileum.29
• Fig GI 26-8 Anisakiasis. Coned view shows a thread-like filling defect (arrows), representing the worm, surrounded by irregular thickening of folds.30
