CARD

CARDS. Java based framework to create models for the products generated with learning tools in order to allow their aggregation and interoperability

• CARDS. Metamodel for other tools– Cardtemplates -> Metamodel– Card -> Models (Tool Results)

Example: COMET. Concept Mapping toolGenerates an image and internal representation XML. CARDS models the final result as a combination of both

Developers design new tools using CARDS metamodel or wrap existing tool models in order to add aggregation or interoperability

Interoperability example. Tools are able to:•Use the outcomes of other tools to configure themselves. •Share outcomes to create aggregated new ones

Pelican learning platform

PELICAN

› An instructional design tool for collaboration› Activity centered› A platform for external tools integration

Activity centered

All instructional processes are based in a collaboration

External tools integration

External tools are integrated in the instructional workflow

Context-adaptation driven

Interactinos of users and groups can rearrange the instructional workflow

Integration model

Intervention model

Organize collaborative experiences and paradigms

Integrate heterogeneous tools and interact with Pelican API

LO variety and lifecycleLOs as collaboration support

Collaborative activity iis deifned by the outcome of the students, as LOs.

›LOs as integration support

Information about the collaborative process are LOs too and part of the LO repository

›LOs as decission making

Student decissions are shaped as LOs and stored in the repository

Deployment of the adaptation

Main Goals Automatic extraction and classification of LOs from the web Help content authors in the process of creating and

enriching LOs. Help students finding relevant resources for their learning

tasks Using the WEB as a source to find and extract related

contents to enrich LOs. Aligning retrieved contents to satisfy a learning goal

according to the Revised Bloom’s taxonomy. Involved technologies:

Information Retrieval Formal Concept Analysis (FCA) Ontologies (OWL and RDF) Learning Objects Repository (LOR)
