The group’s commitment is to find appropriate and optimized solutions for every sector’s requirements.
Beyond our historic markets of Automotive and Marine, we also supply copper, aluminum alloys and special steels to the other manufacturing sectors using non-ferrous metal products that are as various and demanding as Aerospace such as, Fluid & Gas, Power Generation, Writing Instruments, Electrical Connectors, Antimicrobial, Rail & Road Transport and Luxury consumer goods…
Le Bronze Industriel has undergone profound changes over the last 10 years, increasing its turnover from 50 to 200 million Euros and now totaling 1 100 employees all over the world. These changes have led to the creation of a fully integrated new group: Lebronze alloys
When our associates and I took over Le Bronze Industriel in 2006, I was convinced that we had to approach our end customers offering them a benefit that on the one hand would distinguish us from others and on the other hand offered a large range of products: semi-finished traditional products, preformed products close to the final shape, finished products ready for direct assembly operations or even consumables. This strategy has been a real success.
Furthermore, since 2011, we have strengthened this project by the integration of multiple companies able to extend our competences and our technological know-how towards new market segments. Therefore we can rely on:
• 10 production sites bringing together industrial manufacturing technologies (foundry, press, molding machines, drawing machines, foundry machines and CNC machining) allied with a spirit of working together.
• The know-how, the best metal quality as well as an expert knowledge of industrial processes.
• More than 1 000 customers all over the world.
• 5% of our turnover invested in Research & Development as well as in Equipment.
• Organization and optimization of technology transfers from one industrial sector to another.
Complementary sites, the possible synergies but mostly the team’s willingness to work together in a close partnership with our customers makes up our strength and represents a fundamentally new route for our group.
Each employee of the group and I hope that this catalogue; by no means exhaustive, allows you to find answers or ideas to support your projects.
We will help you to realize these!

1934 Rene LOISEAU founds Le Bronze Industriel, the first company in France to develop wrought copper structural hardening alloys.
1945 Until 1939, the production was dedicated to the French National Navy, aviation and armaments. After 1945, Le Bronze Industriel significantly develops its production capabilities especially in the
Automotive industry.
1961 In addition to both factories of Bobigny and Romainville, a new production site is created in Suippes (close to Reims), where more elaborated products such as drawn pipes for Marine and Offshore applications and machined parts are manufactured.
1963 Le Bronze Industriel Deutschland (BID), a subsidiary company with commercial focus is created. In the 80’s, BID covers 35% of the electrodes market in Germany.
1992 Bobigny and Suippes facilities are combined on the Suippes site.
History
2004 A fully brand new factory of 20 000 m2 is inaugurated. The same year, another major investment was carried out in a new extrusion press of 5400 tons.
2006 The Dumont’s family, some private investors as well as few key managers took the company over by investment funds. This is the beginning of a new growth and strategic period for the company.
2011 - 2013 External growth forms part of the strategy of Le Bronze Industriel with the acquisition of 10 additional industrial sites:
- BRONZE INOX in Taverny (France), specialized in die/precision chill casting of aluminium bronze.
- INOFORGES in Breteuil (France), INOFORGES Poland, INOFORGES Forging & Machining (Suzhou, China) specialist in the forging and machining of non-ferrous alloys (brass, copper, aluminium)
- SWISSMETAL in Lüdenscheid (Germany) – now Lebronze alloys Germany- producer of wires, bars and profiles in special brass alloys.
- Hundt & Weber in Siegen (Germany), merged with Lebronze alloys Germany GmbH, specialist of large dimensional alloyed components made from centrifugal or sand casting.
- Forges de Trie-Château, with an historic site in Trie-Château (60) and a second one, more recent, in Dangu (27), specialized in forging and stamping small up to very big parts in special steels but also copper alloys.
- Lebronze alloys is created through the integration of the different sites.
2014 Lebronze alloys creates a joint-venture in China with SNCF for the co-development of products for railway industry. The group determination is to ensure the success of the french technology on the developing Chinese growing market.

Innovation
Copper - the innovative potential The extraordinary characteristics of copper in terms of environmental impact represent an indispensable constituent for future innovations.
Characteristics of copper: • Low energy consumption (high power and thermal conductivity) • Easy shaping • High sustainability (oxidation resistance) • Health protection (virucide, bactericide, fungicide) that is developed through Steriall and Cubiclin’ brands • Recyclable (recoverable throughout its entire life cycle)
Innovation - ongoing mobilization within the group Lebronze alloys recent innovations try to combine one or more characteristics of copper while eliminating flaws. The multi-markets activity is a further advantage that allows transferring appraisals from one market to another.
It is a strategic axis of the group whether by the acquisition of companies mastering complementary technologies for elaboration, transformation and the joining of copper alloys (casting, continuous casting of wire, hot stamping, surface coating, and high-speed machining of moulds….) or by investment in proprietary processes.
This multi-process competence gives us the possibility to search for the most pertinent and innovative solutions that anticipate and respond to the customer’s future needs.
The Group’s strategy and innovation department mobilizes this expertise. This department is made up of 3 sub-departments that work constantly together:
• Strategic marketing department: interfaces with the market, estimates future need and commercial stake developments. It supports the customer relation until the industrialization of the innovatory product
• Materials department: interfaces with the scientific world, especially in metallurgy, mechanics and thermal science. Over the past 5 years the department worked together with 24 European centers of scientific expertise (universities, laboratories, technical centers) on projects which require a multi-year commitment.
• Process development: interfaces with suppliers of technology and internal industrialization services. It also designs a complete process, its automation, as well as the control and regulation of key parameters that guarantee a stability of the product’s quality.
Innovation projects in partnership with our customers « There is no substitute for experience » is Lebronze alloys’ intention and allows its customers and partners to benefit from its innovations when available and without any conditions. When the Group’s experience is not enough, we undertake a development project, whether in a closed setting if the customer requires confidentiality or a setting of partnership for science and technology when we can ensure the management of the project. In the latter case, we are always looking for a reference customer’s support. There are two steps within our innovation and development process, an initial draft determining the costs, limitations, resources and draft submission to the customer, followed by a supply of the prototype prior to any investment decision.

Environmental protection is a keyword of Lebronze alloys growth strategy. Our company is aware of the environmental
constraints linked to its industrial activities and commits itself to preserving resources, limiting and controlling its environ-mental impact and promoting copper alloy recycling. Such a commitment for the environment leads us to take many specific control and improvement measures:
Resource preservation Water With the commissioning of physic-chemical treatment plant for all industrial wastewater and the improvement of our production processes, we have been able to significantly reduce our water consumption and thus our impact on water resources.
Energy Thanks to our investment in new buildings and the implementa-tion of innovative processes, we have been able to largely reduce our energy consumption and thus greenhouse gas emissions.
Control of the environmental impact Waste We have been sorting all our industrial waste for many years. They are eliminated by approved processing centers where the maximum volumes are recycled.Investing in new production processes and taking measures for at source reduction allowed us to reduce the produced amount of hazardous products.
Use of chlorinated solvents We stopped using chlorinated, environmentally hazardous solvents many years ago. The use of chlorinated solvents (COV)
– which have a big impact on the environment – was also stopped. They were replaced by innovative and environmentally friendly degreasing processes.
Air Lebronze alloys monitors and complies with the legal values de-fined for dust and greenhouse gas emissions. Thanks to large investments, we have also been able to greatly improve our installations for smoke and dust collection and filtration.
Copper alloy recycling Lebronze alloys continues to develop processes to internally recycle all the produced goods which are not sold to traditio-nal customers (swarf, process, scrap.). The objective of such development is to reduce the amount of waste transferred to external collection and refining channels.
These news processes have led to a 25% reduction of the produced amount of waste per ton used.
The development of machined parts – which is part of the Lebronze alloys strategy – raises the amount of metals to be recycled compared to the amount of metal sold, which reduces the environmental nuisance (i.e. it reduces energy needs in tons of oil equivalent – TOE – and greenhouse gas emission in tons of carbon dioxide TCO2)
The balance per ton of recycled waste is the following:
Lebronze alloys recycling Customer recycling
TOE 0.12 0.20
TCO2 0.06 0.62
Committed to sustainable development, Lebronze alloys supplies it customers with products whose initial sizes are as near as possible to the final product. This allows reducing the noxious recycling of swarf that will be produced by the
customer. As an alternative, Lebronze alloys offers its customers collection solutions for waste metals (swarf, process scrap, obsolete materials).

RailwayLebronze alloys is specialized in the railway industry for both infrastructure and rolling stock.Regarding rolling stock fixed installations, the high mechanical and electrical characteristics of copper-aluminium are used in many places such as consoles parts support for carbon contacts, pantograph or electrical contacts. Copper-aluminium has proven an excellent resistor to vibration and shock with an outdoors life span of decades.
Copper Nickel Silicon is used where major mechanical resistance is needed while pure copper is used where
the best conductivity is required. Finally, our steel forgings are used for bogies, couplings,
suspensions and transmission devices. Lebronze alloys has been working in close collaboration
with the railway industry since electrification of railways began, through the development of components for catenaries.
Today, the group continues to develop components that enables tomorrow’s demand to be met today.

Metallurgical furnaces for non ferrous applications
Lebronze alloys (through its German production site Hundt & Weber) is a leading specialist in the production of water cooled cooling components for use in the field of metallurgical furnace industry and the primary resp. secondary metallurgy industry. Typical applications would be in Flash Smelting
Furnaces, Kivcet Furnaces, KRS-Furnaces, CFM-Systems etc.
New and trendsetting concepts developed by the furnace engineering companies, but also from the
refractory application require alternative solutions resp. an optimization of the cooling elements with the cast-
in coil system for the metallurgical furnace industry ensures a reduction of the operational costs and increases furnace
availability. The established casting systems can only partially fulfill these requirements of product innovation, as there is a lack of
optimization determined per system, which must be considered. Hundt & Weber has encountered this demand and developed a new and trendsetting
casting and handling system labed TNC™ (patented system). Besides cast-in copper coil systems (Cu DHP EN 12449) coils also made of Monel 400 are commonly used.
Progressive and modern monitoring systems (e.g. simulated solidification, CFD analysis, Infrared testing) are consistently utilized within our entire quality manufacturing processes.

Alloys and standards Metal working Lebronze alloys supplies high quality copper alloys and components for the metal working industries.Welding and cutting are the main application fields of these alloys. As far as electrical resistance welding is concerned, Lebronze alloys supplies contact electrodes such as welding blocks, bars or discs for coils applications. The alloys supplied by the group have been developed and improved due to our expertise and experience thus increasing the life span of the
components.High technical brazing and welding fillers are also
produced by the group. Brazing is different from welding in that it uses filler (solder) that has a lower melting point
than the basic materials; therefore the basic materials are not melted. As a result, basic materials and solder may have
different compositions. As far as welding is concerned, large surface or local melting of basic material and weld material are
achieved.Lebronze alloys produces also electrical discharge machining (EDM) wires.
Products • Welding blocks, bars or discs • Electrodes, caps and material for point welding • Brazing and welding fillers • Electric discharge machining (EDM) wires • Cylinders, mandrels, shaft, gears and bearings in copper or steel alloys
Applications • Electric resistance welding • MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding • TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding • Manual arc welding • Gas welding (acetylene welding) • Processing metal working components

Antimicrobial Copper metal has naturally very strong antimicrobial and antibacterial surface properties.Pathogens are killed on antimicrobial copper very rapidly. Comparatively they can survive for months on Stainless or PVC surfaces. Drug resistant bacteria are also killed by copper.Lebronze alloys has launched two brands to support this activity:Steriall: Architectural components made of antimicrobial copper (handles, handrail, …)
Cubiclin’: Antimicrobial copper raw material to be incorporated in finished products (bar for beds or for
chairs, handles for public transport, push buttons for elevators…)
An important R&D program supports these brands with several lines of research:
- Study of the condition over time of the antimicrobial properties- Study the conditions to keep the aesthetic appearance of

turned parts
Lebronze alloys Group produces special copper alloys for the machining and turning market. The requirement for drilling and turning properties in combination with the individual application requires optimal combinations of the copper, zinc and lead content. Properties of the alloys can be defined to meet the machinability, production and tolerances. For bulging, flanging, cold forming and crimping, composition can be adjusted to optimize the machine performance
and final results. In comparison to steel, the tool life is greatly increased. Chip/Swarf breaking properties and
productivity are enhanced due to the chemistry (elements such as lead assists in chip breaking).
Environmental rules and laws will change in the future with a direct influence on the machinability of brass alloys. Therefore
Lebronze alloys group works closely together with customers and partners to find industrial solutions.
This co-operation has led to a new generation of alloys named EnviB10 and EnviB1. These alloy families comply with the demands of RoHs and
CPSIA whilst retaining good machining properties. Alloys and standards Our ISO9001:2008 quality assurance system for turning and drilling markets guarantees full traceability and our expertise is recognized and certified by major quality assurance companies.
