of life; and from a business standpoint, the amazing women creating world class ventures. The day is also atime to remember that although we may see more media exposure about women kicking butt and achievingtheir goals, there still remains a massive gap in gender equality in almost every industry.
Each year, Startup Daily publishes its Top 50 Women Entrepreneurs List that looks at women buildingamazing companies who are under the age of 40.
Unlike other lists of this nature, we use a wide set of metrics in putting this list together. This means thatalthough financial turnover and capital raised are factors we look at, these are not the primary reasons anentrepreneur would make the list.
In addition to revenue, the team looked at social influence, industry influence, company mission, currenttraction of the company (rather than age of the company) and of course, as a startup focused publication, thelist is biased towards technology based business founders. All women on this year's list have utilisedtechnology in some way to scale their ventures.
Our 2015 Top 50 Women Entrepreneurs are:

Revenue aside, the brand itself commands a social influence that is competitive to
many hollywood celebrities, and is an example of how an Australian online retail play can reach a trulyinternational market.

This year was the most diverse list of female entrepreneurs when it came to racial backgrounds. There are 21women on this list that come from backgrounds other than white-anglo heritage. Diversity is a topic that StartupDaily has been exploring a lot recently. Having analysed content we have published in the last 12 months, there is definitely an overwhelming racial disproportion, especially amongst female startup founders. Thatprompts us to ask a question are there more white-anglo startup founders than those of other heritage? Ordoes the media need to search harder to find stories that may not be as close to their own backyard?
