obligation to attend Mass is suspended. That being said, we will have one Vigil

will be held at Saint Francis Xavier at 5:30pm.
The Masses on January 1st are as fol-
lows:

TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION
In the last century, a few new feasts were blended into the Church year, including today’s. After World War I, the chaos of
daily life in Europe made its impact felt on the family structure. Partly to offer
Christians an image of hope and holiness in married family life, and also to promote the welfare of children, today’s feast was “invented” in 1921. In 1969, it became a
feast of Christmas. The prayers today remind us not only of family life, but of life in the community of faith. We ponder the mystery of a God who loves us dearly enough to embrace the struggles, joys, and
daily sorrows of family life. The message of Christmas shines through: God-with-us is available to us in the ordinary patterns of our lives and commitments. The lives of people who raise
their children in difficult circumstances, and of people who remain faithful to life in the Church in spite of some of their own family struggles, occupy a special place in our hearts
today in prayer.

HELP US KEEP OUR CHURCH CLEAN
We are glad you feel comfortable coming to church and one day soon more of us will be back. In the meantime, if you
attend a service here at Saint Clare’s Church please do not leave discarded tissues, bulletins, worship aids or other trash in the pews. With the infection rate continuing to climb it is very important that our cleaners and everyone else who attends
services, are safe and not exposed to any potential hazards. Thank you and stay safe.
Wishing you and yours, a
Happy & Healthy New Year!
Yours in Christ, Father Sal, Father Kwan and
Father Hippo And the Rectory Staff.

(Handel’s Messiah) 2020 is over. We made it, praise God. It wasn’t pretty but the new year is here. God got us through after all. The new year is always dedicated to the Blessed Mother on January 1, normally a Holy Day of Obligation but of course not this year. I really do feel there is a great wisdom in consecrating the year to Mary for protection and guidance. I think we all appreciate her help now more than ever before. I have great hopes for 2021. I’m very much looking forward to the day that everyone can come back to church without any fear. I can’t wait for the kids to get back to school to learn as they were meant to—sitting at a desk in a classroom with each other. I’m looking forward to being able to see my family again and sit indoors and have a meal with them and just talk. Mostly, I’m looking forward to just getting back to normal. I believe that’s something that most of us took for granted—understandably. Who could have thought our lives would be turned upside down as they were? Again, God got us through. And when this is finally all over, we will have a big—really big—Mass of Thanksgiving to our all powerful God. For now, as we begin the new year, perhaps we can ask the Blessed Mother to give us patience to go through this just a little bit longer. If we consecrate the year to her and beg her protection, she won’t let us down. Below is a prayer of consecration to Mary. Please pray it on January 1st or however often you want to. God bless you and Happy New Year!
Prayer of Consecration to May By Saint Maximilian Kolbe
O Immaculate, Queen of Heaven and earth,
Refuge of sinners and our most loving Mother,
God has willed to entrust the entire order of mercy to you.
I (name), a repentant sinner, cast myself at your feet,
Humbly imploring you to take me with all that I am and have,
Wholly to yourself as your possession and property.
Please make of me,
of all my powers of soul and body, Of my whole life, death and eternity,
Whatever most pleases you.
Amen
