It is absolutely imperative for the future of Catholic education that this vision and way of life is supported by family, parish, and the wider community. As a pastor, I share a hope that in our time and history, every person will come to understand and respect the dignity and value of each person. When that belief is able to resonate and echo in our community, it will also echo in our homes, in our church, and in our classrooms. The credibility of our school absolutely depends on our ability to live that reality and make it real. This is a daunting task – but one that is grounded in the faith we profess as a Catholic institution. Catholic education is about excellence in learning, excellence in living and excellence in loving – as God’s beloved. This dream is happening here at Holy Cross Academy,
Our Lady of Peace; this vision is happen-ing here at Holy Cross Academy, Our Lady of Peace – and it is this faith in
the future of Catholic education that echo’s in our lives here at Holy Cross Academy, Our Lady of Peace.

Monsignor’s Corner If I had a dream for a Catholic school, it would be that school community would mirror the life of our faith community reflecting a unique and faith filled way of life. This image would reflect an alternative way of living and learning that would validate and affirm each child that walks through our doors – as the Beloved of God.

School News
During the month of February, the
custodial staff will be conducting
spring cleaning. One of the goals for
our spring cleaning is to update
some of our athletic trophies that
have accumulated throughout the
years. We will be displaying some of
our older trophies for parishioners to
take for their own. At the end of
February, we will be discarding many of the older trophies
to make room for books in our Library. Parishioners may
look at these trophies in our school Library, on Saturdays or
Sundays, at the conclusion of Mass. This will continue
through the month of February.
Baptism Class
There will be a baptism class for
parents who wish to have their child
baptized in February, March before
Lent, or April after Easter. The class
will be on Monday evening, Feb. 17th
at 7:00 pm . Meet outside Seton Hall
which is located in the basement under
the Church, enter through the door in
the back. Contact Jim Naegeli at
330-452-2202 or email
[email protected] to register.
Church Overseas This weekend the Diocese of Youngstown is holding the
Church Overseas Combined Collection for ministries of
the Church around the globe. These ministries of Catholic
Relief Services, Holy Father/Peter’s Pence, the Church
in Latin America and the Church in Central and
Eastern Europe assist the Church in serving people who
are hungry, refugees, victims of natural disasters, and de-
velopment projects. Please give generously to this collec-
tion which combines four collections in one.
CRS and other agencies request special funds when natural
disasters occur. This collection supports these Church
agencies in their on-going work in long-term development,
education, leadership training and other social and pastoral
ministries

Celebration of the Eucharist and
Confirmation at
Christ the Servant
Bishop George V. Murry,
S.J., Bishop of the Diocese
of Youngstown will be pre-
siding at our parish Confir-
mation Mass, on the after-
noon of Sunday, February
23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Parish-
ioners are encouraged to at-
tend the ceremony. This occasion provides our young men
and women to experience the release of the Spirit. Our
young people now have the opportunity to affirm the path
of their destiny which, for a Christian, is unity with God.
We pray as a community for the awakening and awareness
of God’s unconditional love and unbounded forgiveness of
God, expressed in the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Bishop
will consecrate each one with the words “Be sealed with the
Gift of the Holy Spirit.” This seal is a consecration, repre-
senting the continuing presence and intensification of the
Holy Spirit that was celebrated in Baptism. The Community
of Disciples gathers asking the Spirit of God to guide our
young people as disciples in their journey of faith.
Sr. Thea’s life mission was to share her rich cultural
heritage and spirituality through song, prayer, teach-
ing, preaching and writing. Although diagnosed with
cancer in 1984, she continued to give programs de-
signed to encourage communication between cultures
including this historic presentation to the U.S. Catholic
Bishops about Black Catholic Spirituality in June 1989.

THE ELDERLY NEED YOUR CARE &
ATTENTION There is no one in the community of Christ the Servant Par-
ish who needs and appreciates any care and attention that
can be given to them more than the homebound elderly.
The parish is in need of Eucharistic Ministers who are will-
ing to take the Eucharist to the homebound. Please consider
this ministry with great thought. It doesn’t take a large
amount of time and is so appreciated. If you are interested,
please call the parish office at 330.492.0757 and your name
will be given to Angie.
Also, if you are homebound and would like someone to
bring you the Eucharist or would just like someone to visit
with you once in a while, please call Angie at
330.966.2073. She will arrange someone to visit you.
All hospitals and nursing homes in our boundaries
(Bethany, Stones Crossing and Canton Christian Home)
already have volunteers who do this. If you know of some-
one in the hospital or a nursing home that has not been
visited, please call Angie and she will look into it. Thank
you!
