Reflection
Good and evil are sown in our hearts like tiny seeds which germinate, and in due time yield a harvest of good or bad fruit. Charles Read said: "Sow an act and you reap a habit. Sow a habit and you reap a character. Sow a character
and you reap a destiny." In the day of judgment each will reap what he or she has sown in this life. Those who sow good will shine in the kingdom of their Father. They will radiate with the beauty, joy, and fullness of God's love.
Do you allow the love of Christ to rule in your heart and in your actions?
"Lord Jesus, let your word take root in my heart and may your all-consuming love transform my life that I may sow what is good, worthy, and pleasing to you."

Ministry News
Sacred Heart Choir may not be able to attend practice in the traditional setting due COVID19
but has met great success meeting on a virtual
platform. What started as a check- in for
members that have not gathered since
mid-March, the virtual Zoom gathering has now
progressed to include actual music
practice alongside the social component.
Marina Moffitt, Choir Director, has
encouraged members to practice their vocal skills
while rehearsing new music in a
non-stress approach.
Starting in June, the gathering has been a great
way to serve and connect the parish
community in this way. The weekly gathering
has from 9 to 15 members connect live from their
living rooms or porch for an hour.
If you are interested in checking out the
‘Virtual Choir Practice’ or would like
more details, please contact Marina at
[email protected]. She will send you a link
to join the next
meeting, which is currently held each Wednesday from 6 to 7 pm.
Helen Prentiss, a long time member of Sacred Heart, is coordinator of our Prayer Shawl ministry.
As Helen knits these beautiful shawls, her prayers are woven into each one. Prayers for God’s love and healing of body, mind and spirit. Each Prayer Shawl, when finished, is blessed by a Priest. If you or someone you know would like to receive a Prayer Shawl please call the church office.
May this Prayer Shawl, made for you with love Be a mantle and a sign of God’s healing presence.
May it warm you when you are weary. May it surround you with ease in your suffering.
May it encircle you with caring when you are in pain. May it comfort you when you are alone.
And may it remind you of God’s abiding love.
MAT MINISTRY NEWS
Members of our Mat Ministry continue to
work at home completing mats. Helen Prentiss and her daughter
Carol have come up with a new technique to complete the mats
using a loom to weave prepared plastic strips. Many of the gray
bags are from Walmart so the girls got a little creative on one of the
sections. Helen says it takes over 800 bags to make one mat. So
keep those bags coming in. especially different colored ones!

Community Hot Meals Program/New Smyrna Beach We continue serving delicious hot meals to our homeless community even during this pandemic. Costs have skyrocketed, however. Instead of serving our guests in Fellowship Hall on plates with eating utensils and drink tumblers, we are greeting them in masks, outside with filled to-go containers, plastic ware and beverage bottles. These disposable
items are an unexpected expense! Please consider volunteering, donating grocery bags, sharing our post, and/or making a
financial donation to: Community Hot Meals Program,

Feast of the Most Holy Redeemer
The feast is found only in the special calendar of some dioceses and religious orders, and is celebrated with proper Mass and Office either on the third Sunday of July or on 23 October. In Venice this feast has been ob-served for more than three centu-ries with great solemnity. Moroni in his"Dizionario" gives some interesting data concern-ing the origin of this feast. In 1576 a plague broke out in Venice which in a few days carried off thousands of vic-tims. To avert this scourge the Senate vowed to erect a splendid temple to the Redeemer of mankind, and to offer therein each year on the third Sunday of July pub-lic and solemn services of thanksgiving. Scarcely had the plague ceased when they began to fulfil their vow. The church was designed by the famous Andrea Palladio, and the corner-stone was laid by the Patriarch Trevisan on 3 May, 1577. The celebrated painters Paolo Veronese and Jacopo Tintoretto decorated the interior. The church was consecrated in 1592, and, at the urgent solicitations of Pope Gregory XIII, placed in charge of the Capuchin Fathers. By concession of Pope Benedict XIV, dated 8 March, 1749, the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer solemnizes this feast as a double of the first class with an octave on the third Sunday of July. The same congregation also keeps the feast as a greater double on 23 October and 25 February, and has, besides, the privilege of reciting once a month the votive office of the Most Holy Redeemer. In Rome also Pope Pius VIII introduced the feast and by a Decree of 8 May, 1830, the Sacred Congregation of Rites assigned it to 23 October. The characteristics of the Mass and Office are joy and gratitude for the ineffable graces and benefits of the Redemption. This appears especially from the Introit "Gaudens gaudebo", from the anti-phons of Lauds "Cantate Domino", from the Epistle of the Mass, taken from St. Paul to the Ephesians, chap. i, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who hath blessed us with spiritual blessings . . . in Christ". For this reason white is the colour of the vestments, and not red, as in the Mass of the Passion.
