R10-HTC2013 • The first Region 10 oriented Humanitarian Technology Conference• Sponsored by IEEE HT Adhoc Committee, Region10 and Japan Council
on behalf of nine sections in Japan.• To focus on the contributions, current limitations and future possibilities
that we have learned from March 11 disaster in Japan and similar disasters around the world.
• The goal is to share the experience of the tragedy and to seek a measure to avoid and reduce the damage of possible future disasters.

Organizing CommitteeConference President : Dr. Fumio Harashima, IEEE Life Fellow He is the president of Metropolitan university of Tokyo. He has a lot of experiences in IEEE volunteer works, including HQ secretary, society president and also Tokyo Section chair.
Organizing Chair : Dr. Tomonori Aoyama, IEEE Life Fellow He is a professor of Keio University. He has experienced in IEEE activities, especially in Communication society. He was the IEEE Tokyo Section chair 2011-12. He also served as the president of IEICE Japan.

Expectation of ParticipantsWe expect approximately 110 participants paying full rate and are making further efforts to increase the number.
We are cooperating with Japan Council SAC to obtain student participates. A special poster session, tutorial session and joint welcome party are being planed by cooperating with the JC affinity groups (WIE, GOLD).
We wish to have many people from the Region 10.
About Sendai• A beautiful place in North East Japan known as a tree clad city and there are a lot of tourist
attractions and historical spots in the area. • The largest city with about 1 million population in the region of the Great East Japan
Earthquake and Tsunami Attack on March 11, 2011 and playing important role for the recovery from the disaster.
