A hero according to Fielding May not essentially be physically brave or
ideal, but he should have good intentions. The heroes in the past had been brave,
heroic and extraordinary. Fielding derives away from this tradition and
chooses the common men as heroes of his novels and portrays them with all their weaknesses, sexual immorality, etc.
Tom Jones as a Unheroic hero Walter Allen who once remarked that “Tom
Jones was a new type of hero; one might say the unheroic hero”.
Tom is innately good in pursuit of wisdom, which Tom finally attains in his union with Sophia. His exuberant nature has now matured to a wise discernment of virtue.
It’s certainly easier to make good men wise is the story of a foundling whom nature has endowed with physical beauty and happy vitality. But the young Tom did not always act rightly, so that he seems to be something like an unheoric hero.
Tom Jones as a Unheroic hero He acts on inpulse sometimes well,
sometimes ill and he lacks a settled kind of duty.
He was sexual adventures with molly saegrim, Jenny waters and the lady of Bellaston.
Conclusion In completeness of human being No one is perfect or having 32 virtues in soul. E.g. Tom is neither completely good nor evil.
On one hand he is tempted for physical relationship on other hand he is generous man.
Through out the novel no one is perfect or incomplete.
They are weather good or bad.
