Workbench: Forecast tab
You can now increase or reduce value of “Cost To Complete” by typing ‘+’ or ‘-’ before the value
For example, to increase value of CTC by $500.0 type ‘+500’ and to reduce type ‘-500’ (no space between the sign and value)
This applies to “Estimated CTC” and “Estimated EAC” fields
Fields “Estimated WTC” and “Estimated WAC” accept positive increments only.

You can now leave your comments for forecast change. Comments are period specific

New Key Figures
New Key Figures:
Forecast POC = EAC(p) / EAC
where EAC(p) is the value of Estimated At Completion for a period, calculated as Actual Costs(p) + CTC(p) + Commitments(p)
Forecast Recognized Revenue = Forecast POC(p) / Plan Revenue
where Forecast POC(p) is the value of Percent Of Completion for a period

Workbench Other Changes: Selectively Set Planning Level on NWA
You can selectively set NWA with specified control key as a planning element when overall project planning level is set on WBS.
For example, your project consists of WBS and NWA.You would like to plan and forecast your project on WBS, therefore you set project Planning Level on WBS. However, you would like to use some NWA to plan, execute and forecast on NWA (e.g. engineering and design). You need to set a special Control Key on Noveco Network parameters and assign it to your special NWA where you’d like to forecast in Noveco Workbench.
Workbench Other Changes:
• Calculate Overheads on Purchasing Commitments (Costing Sheets in SAP PS must be configured to calculate OH on commitments)
• Project objects marked for deletion are not displayed on Workbench (previously they were greyed out)
• ALV layouts in all tabs now have fixed (not scrollable) columns
• Various bug fixes and improvements
Workbench: deal with large projects
• Some projects consist of WBS, NWA, Work Orders and Order Operations
• Actual Costs are posted to order or order operations and settled to Assets Under Construction or Fixed Assets
Problems:
• Some large Projects may contain > 100K of WBS and Order operations and their number keeps growing every day
• SAP standard reports time out due to the large number of project objects in the selected scope (order operations constitute the majority of the selected objects)
• Cost Forecast in Noveco is almost impossible for the following reasons:
o It takes too long to open a large project
o there are too many operations appear in the project tree hierarchy, so users have to page it many times to reach the right WBS element
o It takes even longer (system times out) to recalculate forecast automatically
o by the time it is recalculated the new actual costs already posted and new work order operations are assigned
Large Projects in SAP: WBS and Work Orders
- WBS element
- Order Operations
The reason for the problems:
• Actual Costs and PO commitments are posted to work order operations
• Actual costs then aggregated on the WBS at report run time
• The actuals and commitments are saved on version 000 against work order operation
• Therefore in order to report actual costs on the project, we must have order operations in the selected scope

Solution in Noveco:
• During Recalculation of Forecasts in Noveco (performed as a background job) the Actual Costs and PO commitments are rolled up from order operations and saved on WBS element or NWA
• The actuals and commitments are saved on planning elements (WBS elements or NWA) on forecast version
• This way we can report Actual Costs and Commitments from forecast version instead of version 000
• This will also allow us not to include order operations into Noveco Workbench or reports

Solution:
• The Database profile is set not to include Order and Order operations when Large project is opened in Noveco
• The system reads actual costs from WBS and from Forecast Version instead of version 000,
• The values on forecast version is saved by overnight background job recalculations (it will not be always up-to-date)
• The project Structure consists of WBS and NWA, which will make project to open fast and navigation easy

Variation Management
Both fields “Value Category” and “Resource Name” are open for selection if you choose Costing key = ‘V’.
If you chose “Turn Cost Element off” for your project Profile in Noveco Project Parameters, you can pick a Value category and/or resource from the drop-down list, the system will find a cost element.
Variation ManagementIf you configured your Variation to update Sales Orders automatically and you chose new item to be created by Variation Workbench, you can choose a Material Master that will appear on the new Sales Order item
