Spiritual Adoption Month 8 Now your spiritually adopted baby is finished developing and is concentrating on gaining
weight; she might be making her mother uncomfortable with her size. She will need a layer of fat to help her stay warm after she leaves the perfect temperature inside her mother’s
womb. In a short time, this baby will be born. Your baby’s mother appreciated the prayers you have said for her and her baby throughout the pregnancy. Your prayers have given her the grace she needed to bring her baby to term and the life God has planned for her. Please
continue to pray: “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much.
I beg you to spare the life of the unborn child that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion.” – Bishop Fulton J. Sheen
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be held each Wednesday following the 12 Noon
Mass until 4pm. Please stop in and make a visit to the Lord. Adoration on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception will be on Tuesday, December 8th
following the Noon Mass until 4pm.
Do Something Beautiful for God (Teachings of St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta)
To smile at someone who is sad; to visit, even for a little while, someone who
is lonely; to give someone shelter from the rain with our umbrella; to read something for someone who is blind: these and others can be small things, very small things, but they are appropriate to give our love of God concrete
expression.
Prayer for our Troops
Almighty God and Father, hold our servicemen and women in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families
for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time and need.
We ask this in the name of Jesus, Our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Saint Michael, the Archangel,
Please guide and protect our Police Officers, Correction
Officers, Firefighters, Emergency Personnel and
First Responders
St. John’s
Church The Church is open for
daily Private prayer until 4pm
Daily Masses: 9am and Noon
Happy Thanksgiving
Can you help our neighbors?
For the past 35+ years St. John’s CYO has done a Thanksgiving Food Drive collecting thousands of
bags of food to provide for the needy of our community.
Due to the pandemic, we cannot collect groceries as
before. In order to help this year we are asking for cash donations. We know times may be hard but they
are particularly difficult for those in need.
To donate please go to the GoFund Me Page at
gofundme.com/f/sjte-thanksgiving-food-drive
Or mail / drop off donation to Parish House 221 E. Lake Blvd.

Saint John the Evangelist Annual Financial Report Fiscal Year Ended August 31, 2020 Dear Parishioners of St. John’s, On behalf of the Finance Council, we share with you the financial highlight report for the fiscal year ended August 31, 2020. The full financial statements of the Parish were recently presented to and approved by the members of the Finance Council and submitted to the Archdiocese Finance Office. Despite the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in the closure of our Parish for three months and restricted attendance since reopening on June 20th, the financial condition of the Parish has remained stable. Under the prudent and diligent management of our Pastor and guided by the Finance Council, the outstanding debt to the Archdiocese has been fully repaid. Weekly contributions including WeShare, which fund our normal operating expenses, decreased $1,100 approximately 7% from an average of $16,200 to $15,100. Participation in WeShare, our electronic giving program, increased an average of $800 per month while in-pew contributions decreased an average of $5,500 per month. We continue to seek meaningful reductions in our normal operating expenses to keep pace with reduced operating revenues. Although our Parish incurred additional expenses, including sanitizing the Church, in response to the pandemic, total expenses declined $87,300. In addition to our operating income, we raised $122,300 for the year ended August 31, 2020 in restricted donations for capital improvements to the Church. Proceeds of restricted donations in the last two fiscal years have been used toward the replacement of the roof and are earmarked for the re-siding of the main Church in 2021. Early in the fiscal year, our Parish reached a milestone by fully repaying its outstanding interest accruing liabilities owed to the Archdiocese. In 2012, the interest-bearing debt was over $2.5 million, which consisted of loans and outstanding bills from the Parish and the former school. Our remaining debt is a non-interest-bearing subvention balance. While our 2019 Thanksgiving Outreach was very successful, the pandemic resulted in a suspension of many activities, including our Lenten Outreach, Hoops for Hope, Blood Drives, St. Patrick’s Day, San Giuseppe, St. Anthony and Padre Pio Masses, Easter Food Blessing, Living Rosary, Luminary Mass, May Crowning, Parish Feast Day, Animal Blessing, and Mass of the Anointing. Since the pandemic increased unemployment, the Food Pantry experienced a substantial increase in the number of families it served. Parishioners have been very supportive of this important mission. Finally, the Finance Council would like to thank all those who continue to so generously support your Parish. Despite the three-month closure, Parishioners continued either their WeShare contributions or placed weekly envelopes and other contributions at the mail drop in the Parish House. We would also like to thank Father Phil Caruso for his leadership and oversight of the spiritual and financial well-being of the entire Saint John’s community.
Respectfully,
Catherine Formisano – Parish Trustee Edward Welch – Parish Trustee
