The 700 Block of Powell Street was under lit bypublic street lighting. Sunrise Soya Foods staff feltuncomfortable walking to their cars or the bus stopat night. They were frequently experiencing break-ins into their vehicles parked on the block.

Assisted by the SBIA, Sunrise Soya Foods workedwith the City of Vancouver to find a solution. Fourstreet lamps on the block were upgraded tobrighter LED fixtures for a total cost of $3080, paidby Sunrise Soya Foods and installed by the City. The cost per light fixture including installation was$770, The brighter lighting  increased visibility andprovided a greater sense of safety for employeesat night time.
