Chapter Director’s Spiel Okay, we are into winter, thank goodness so far we haven’t had any appreciable snowfall, and
that is just fine with us. Hope you are all keeping warm and dry.
About now, I know we are, and probably you are too, starting to suffer from that dread
disease … “Cabin Fever”! Stuck in the house, staying out of the cold, etc., and having
withdrawal symptoms for fun with your fellow GWRRA members! Well, there’s a fix
coming soon. February 8th, at the James E. Ward Agricultural and Community
Center, 945 Baddour Parkway, Lebanon, the TN District Operations meeting
followed by the district’s “Winter Event”. While it is nice to sit in on the Operations meeting, to hear what is the latest news from GWRRA National and the District, and what is planned for the coming year, if you’re not interested in that, still consider coming out for the Winter Event, which should
start around noon, and there will be games, 50/25/25, table decorating-scrapbook-mascot contests, chapter challenge, lots of ways to have some fun with your fellow TN GWRRA members and get out of the house
for a day of fun and camaraderie. See the flyer further below. We had our initial ride planning meeting January 23rd, and have a good start for planning what the
chapter will have for fun activities in 2020 (see the detailed report further below). I can’t emphasize enough how important it is for each of you to review the email I sent out with the list of suggested rides, for you to prioritize/rank the rides you are interested in. We all want the ride calendar to be the best it can be, for lots
of great choices of things to do and places to go, with your friends. So please check out the email, pick the rides you want, rank them in order, and send the email back to me. Thanks a bunch for your cooperation
and support. On a side note, I want to thank all the members who sent cards, emails, and called wishing me good luck with
my knee replacement surgery and the complications afterwards. I can say that things have started getting better
and as the saying goes, I can see light at the end of the tunnel.
We hope everyone has a fun and exciting and romantic Valentine’s Day, February 14th. If you’re planning on
going out to that special restaurant for a wonderful meal, remember besides being Valentine’s Day, it is also a
Friday, so you might want to check into getting advanced reservations, soon.
Be safe out there, and we hope to see you at something in the near future. Brian & Loretta Richards, TN-M Chapter Directors
Assistant Chapter Director Hi, hope you’re having fun with your fellow chapter friends.
Don’t forget, weather changes quickly this time of year, so if you go on a ride, be prepared
with the right clothes, for whatever weather you might encounter.
If you’re planning on going for a ride, make sure you, your gear, and especially your ride,
are all at their peak performance level and ready to get out there and have fun. And make sure to be wearing the
proper gear for safety and the expected conditions.
Ride Safe! James Whitener, TN-M Assistant Chapter Director

Chapter M “Out Having FUN!”
Jan 20 Visit to TN-A2 to capture the East TN Traveling Plaque by Brian Richards
Five intrepid members of TN-M braved the weather and visited the TN-A2, Marysville chapter gathering on
Monday, January 20th, in hopes of capturing the East TN Traveling Plaque. Due to some on-going health issues
from my knee replacement surgery, Loretta & I, who had planned on also going to the A2 gathering, were not
able to make it.
I was told there were quite a few members from visiting chapters there to try to get the plaque, which is
awarded by a simple ticket draw, every visiting chapter member gets a ticket, and one is drawn. Lucky Marlene
Kinney’s ticket was drawn, so TN-M now has the East TN Traveling Plaque, and it will be available to be drawn
by a visiting chapter member at our February gathering on the 11th, so we can expect a lot of visitors, which is
good, it will be nice to see some of our friends from around the District.

Jan 23, Ride Planning Meeting by Brian Richards
Fifteen members joined Loretta & I at the Lenoir City Shoney’s Thursday evening, January 23rd to come up
with ideas and suggestions for rides to be put into our chapter’s 2020 Ride Calendar. We want to thank each and
every one of them for coming out and helping us plan for a whole bunch of fun this coming year.
As we’ve done in the past, I listed all the suggestions given by the members and sent out an email to all the
members asking them to review the list of suggestions and give a “ranking” of their preference for the rides, in
three categories, day rides, weekend rides and multi-day rides. Once we get the rankings back from the members
(and PLEASE take the time to review the suggestions and reply to my email with your rankings, this is the only
way we can develop a planning calendar with the rides you, the members, most want to go on, this coming year),
I will be able to get a prioritized list and we can have another get-together to place the selected rides onto the
calendar in hopefully the best date for each ride. Be watching for another email from me with a date/time/place
to get together for that process.

Some “Fun” stuff to brighten your day French Lessons
A man goes into a restaurant and is seated. All the waitresses are gorgeous. A particularly
voluptuous waitress wearing a very short skirt and legs that won’t quit came to his table and
asked if he was ready to order, “What would you like, sir?”
He looks at the menu and then scans her beautiful frame top to bottom, then answers, “A quickie.”
The waitress turns and walks away in disgust. After she regains her composure she returns and asks again,
“What would you like, sir?”
Again the man thoroughly checks her out and again answers, “A quickie, please.”
This time her anger takes over, she reaches over and slaps him across the face with a resounding “SMACK!”
and storms away.
A man sitting at the next table leans over and whispers, “Um, I think it’s pronounced ‘quiche’.”
