EMW Camps offer a marvellous mix offantastic friendships, awesome activities, brilliant bible-studies and terrific talksfrom the Bible. Whether you're a campveteran, or thinking of coming for thefirst time, you're sure to find a warmwelcome on an EMW Camp.

The Evangelical Movement of Wales is aregistered charity, and has been runningChristian camps for more than fifty years. All staff are Christian volunteers drawnfrom evangelical churches. These volunteersenable us to keep the cost of camp down to an absolute minimum. The staff/camperratio averages just over 1:3, and each one is asked for a reference from their churchleaders and a disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.

Each camper is placed in a tent or dormwith three or four others which has its owndedicated officer. The officer will lead Biblestudies, be available throughout the week, and ensure that everyone in the group isgetting the most out of camp. The camp

chaplain will lead a talk on a theme from theBible. The talks are suitable for campers of all ages, whether or not they regularly attend church.

Camps are deliberately limited in size (usually 35-50 children) so each camper canget to know everyone on the camp and eventhe quietest campers quickly make friends.Teamwork in games, challenges and lightchores all help encourage campers to worktogether. Many friendships are made andoften renewed at camp.

Every camp has a wide-range of activities thatshould please even the most uninterestedcamper. Sports, arts and craft, "It's aknockout", gorge-walking, trips to the beach,team-building games, table-tennis andswimming are just a few of the activities that leaders will consider. (Licensed activityproviders are used for all outdoor pursuitsactivities.) Evenings are often given over tohome-grown entertainment, with plenty oftime for laughs together.

All this helps to make EMW camps somethingspecial for everyone. It's why so many comeback year after year. Book early, and makesure you don't miss out in 2009.

A typical day on campEvery camp is different, and every day onevery camp is different, too! But your'average' day will include plenty of good food;free-time for sports; games or just chillingout; a meeting where the camp chaplain willteach a passage from the Bible and apply it ata level just for you and your fellow-campers(we promise there are no boring sermons oncamp!); then there's an afternoon full ofincredible activities - perhaps a trip off-site tothe beach or even a theme-park, perhapssomething more challenging like gorge-walking, rock-climbing or archery, perhapssome crazy games or an it's a knockout;perhaps something quieter and more creativelike glass-painting or T-shirt design; perhapseven a combination of all of these! Even thenthe day is not finished. There's still time for abible-study in your tent/dorm to give you anopportunity to study the bible with yourofficer and ask questions; then perhaps someevening entertainment - maybe you'll make aguest appearance on the famous 'Camp News';before a late-night epilogue and a well-earnedsleep. And that's just one day! It's no wondercampers and officers go home tired but happy.

Our venuesEMW Camps are spread over seven venuesaround Wales. In the North, Quinta is on theEnglish border. It has enormous grounds, andeven its own sports hall and swimming pool,

and is ideally located for trips to theme-parks and major attractions. Also in theNorth, but in the heart of 'Welsh Wales' isBryn-y-groes in Bala. Bryn-y-groes alsohas it's own grounds (and a new sportshall), and is just a few minutes walk froma leisure centre and Bala's famous lakeand mountains - perfect for caneoing andother activities. Not far away is a newsite, Pentrenant Hall, near Newtown. It’sa smaller camp, so there will be a greatatmosphere. The site is full of things todo, and it's in the heart of the Welshhills. In the South, Bryntirion in Bridgendis close to the M4, and equally close tosome of South Wales' best beaches and attractions.

The three outdoor sites at DyffrynArdudwy, Talybont and (new this year)Dolgoch Falls are all on Wales' beautifulWest Coast. Both Talybont and Dyffrynhave indoor cooking and dining facilities, and there are hot showers guaranteed inthe shower block - this is 'outdoor'camping in real luxury! Accommodation isin large ridge tents. Dolgoch Falls is forthose a little more used to the outdoors, but still has excellent facilities - all undercanvas. All three sites are close tobeaches, mountains and some greatoutdoor activity centres.

We intend to have a great fun week together that is enjoyable foreveryone. For some, sharing the week with 50 or so others will beunusual, but it will just add to what makes camp a differentexperience. However, for it to work safely for everyone’s benefitthere will be some ground rules and other terms based on thebiblical standards to which the EMW camps are committed. Theterms and conditions below in part reflect those standards.

Participation: It is expected that everyone will be involved inthe daily programme of activities which includes a daily campservice and group Bible studies.

Safety: For your own safety and that of others, you will berequired to follow the instructions of the group leaders duringall the activities of the week.

Damage and theft: Wilful damage to the Centre’s property oranyone else’s belongings, or any act of theft, will be charged for.

Accommodation: Under no circumstances may you enter theroom/tent of a member of the opposite sex. You are notpermitted to enter the room/tent of another guest unlessinvited to do so.

Audio equipment: In the interests of safety, goodcommunication and the avoidance of nuisance, the use of anypersonal audio equipment (TV, computer games, radio, mp3, or CD players) will not be permitted.

Please note that in completing the booking form you promiseto observe camp rules. We very much hope that by making theground rules clear at this stage it will not be necessary to dealwith anyone for breach of this code. The rules are for the goodof all, so the leaders feel it is very important that they areupheld. Any breaking of the rules, therefore, will be dealt withfirmly. A deliberate breaking of the rules could lead toexpulsion from the Centre without any refund of fees.
