The EL-WIFI-21CFR-TH+ measures the temperature and humidity of the environment inwhichitissituated.DataisstreamedwirelesslyoveranycompatibleWiFinetwork tobeviewedontheEasyLog21CFRCloud.Duringconfiguration,thesensorwillsearchforanexistingwirelessnetworkwhilstphysicallyconnectedtothePC.Itcanthenbeplacedanywherewithinrangeofthenetwork.Ifthesensortemporarilylosesconnectivitywiththenetwork,itwilllogreadingsuntilitisabletocommunicateagainwith the EasyLog 21CFR Cloud (max 30 days at 10-second sample interval). The unit is freestanding,butitcanbeattachedtoawallorsurfaceusingthebracketprovided.

ThesensorisIEEE802.11bgn(2.4GHz)compliant,supportsWEP,WPA/WPA2encryptionandenterprisenetworks(PEAP,TTLS,FAST).

BATTERYLIFEANDPOWERSUPPLYThebatterycanberecharged(unitmustbebetween0-40°C)viaaPC,aUSB+5Vwalladapter,oraportableUSBbattery packusingtheUSBleadprovided.ItcanalsobepermanentlypoweredbyaUSBwalladapterorUSBbatterypack.Readings maybeaffectedwhiletheinternalbatteryisbeingcharged.However,oncecharged,continuedconnectionofthechargerwillhavenoeffect.

Batterylifeisdependenton:transmissionperiod,WiFiencryptionmethod,WiFiencryptionkeyrotationfrequency(determinedby the router/access point), signal strength between router/access point and WiFi device, presence volume and type of WiFi trafficfromotherdevices,samplerateandoperatingtemperature.

Operatingconditions

Long term exposure to humidity levels outside of the ‘normal’rangemaytemporarilyoffsetRHmeasurements(±3%RH after 60 hours). Once returned to less extremeconditionsthedevicewillslowlyreturntowardscalibrationstate.

Whentrackingchanges inambientconditions, the responsetimeof thehumidity sensor inyourdata logger isapproximately20minutestoreach90%ofthereading.However,ifyouaremeasuringstepchangesinhumidity(forexampleifcalibratingtheproduct)itisadvisedthatyouleavetheunitforuptofourhourstoensurethatithasenoughtimetosettleatthenewlevel.

Itisworthrememberingthatthevalueofrelativehumidityisofcoursesensitivetotemperaturevariation.Asanexample,atarelativehumidityof~90%RHatambienttemperature,avariationintemperatureof1°Cwillresultinachangeofupto-5%RH.Thereforewhencomparingmultipledevicesorcalibratingthem,anytemperaturevariationsmustbeconsidered.
